You walk into what looks like a polished steakhouse in the middle of Danish-themed Solvang and the wine list actually surprises you — in the best way. Ten labels is a tight list, but whoever curated it clearly knows the Central Coast. This isn't the generic Napa cab / generic Sonoma chard lineup you'd expect.
The list is lean but deliberate: a Stolpman orange wine, an Austrian Grüner Veltliner, Presqu'ile, Whitcraft, Grassini, J. Dusi — these are real producers making real wine, not distributor-filler brands. The regional focus is tight on Santa Barbara County and surrounds, with a nod to Happy Canyon and Ballard Canyon AVAs specifically. What's missing is depth: one red, one rosé, one sparkling-adjacent from the same producer (Stolpman carries a lot of weight here), and no older vintages to speak of. But in a tourist town that could easily mail it in with Kendall-Jackson and Meiomi, this is a genuine effort.
Ten bottles and ten by-the-glass options means everything is available by the pour, which we respect — no gatekeeping behind a full bottle commitment. Prices run $14–$25/glass, which is honest for the caliber on offer. The Stolpman orange wine and the Whitcraft Pinot Noir being available by the glass alone make this list worth your attention.
Presqu'ile Chardonnay Santa Barbara County 2023 — $17/glass, $68/bottle
Presqu'ile punches well above its price point and is one of Santa Barbara County's most consistent producers. At $68 a bottle in a restaurant setting, you're not getting gouged — that's about as fair as it gets for a label this good.
Stolpman Vineyards Pinot Gris-Gewurztraminer Orange Wine Orcutt 2023
Most tables will gloss right past this and order the rosé. Don't. Stolpman's orange wine is a proper skin-contact experiment from one of the Central Coast's most adventurous producers — aromatic, textured, and nothing like what you came in expecting to drink with your steak.
Grimm's Bluff Cabernet Sauvignon Cliff Hanger Happy Canyon 2019
At $25/glass and $100/bottle it sits at the top of the price range, and without retail data to benchmark it, that's a leap of faith we're not ready to take. In a ten-bottle list built around Central Coast character, a Cab at the price ceiling feels like a concession to the 'just get me a red' crowd rather than a genuine pick.
Stolpman Vineyards Syrah Estate Grown Ballard Canyon 2023 + Steak
Ballard Canyon Syrah and red meat is one of the Central Coast's great no-brainer combinations. Stolpman's estate Syrah has the dark fruit and savory grip to match a proper steak without the tannin sledgehammer of a Napa Cab. It's the right wine for this menu and it's sitting right there on the list.
The Bottom Line
Coast Range could easily phone it in with a tourist-trap wine list, but instead it's quietly pouring Whitcraft and Stolpman orange wine in the middle of Solvang. It's not a deep cellar, but it's an honest, well-chosen list worth exploring if you're in town.

The Grill at the Ranch Course isn't a wine destination, but it's a smart, locally-honest list that respects its surroundings more than most golf course restaurants bother to. If you're already at Alisal Ranch, lean into the Santa Ynez producers and you'll drink well.

Trattoria Grappolo isn't trying to be a destination wine bar, and it doesn't need to be — it's a warm, well-run trattoria with a list that respects its address and feeds the food well. If you're in the Santa Ynez Valley and want local wines with good pasta, this is exactly the right call.

Full of Life Flatbread is the best argument for pulling off the freeway in Los Alamos — the food and the wine list are both punching way above what a casual flatbread spot has any business delivering. If you're driving through wine country and skipping this because it doesn't look like a tasting room, that's on you.
