Wingman Metrics
You don't expect to find 100+ wines in downtown Erie, but here we are. Cloud 9 walks in with serious ambition — a long list, wines on draft, flights, fortified pours — and immediately signals that someone here actually cares. The vibe is relaxed and social, which makes the depth of the wine program feel like a pleasant surprise rather than an intimidating flex.
The list pulls from all over — you'll find a Lamoreaux Landing Riesling from the Finger Lakes sitting next to a Cune Rioja Crianza, and Duckhorn Chardonnay from Washington holding court near sparkling options that run from accessible to a $450 Cristal if you're feeling bold. There's a genuine effort to represent range here: local New York producers, Old World stalwarts, and domestic crowd-pleasers all share real estate. That said, the list leans toward recognizable names and approachable styles — this isn't a deep-cut natural wine cellar or a grower Champagne nerd's paradise, but for Erie, it punches well above its weight class. The wines-on-tap program is a smart differentiator that keeps glass pours fresh and the happy hour math very attractive.
Thirty-two pours across red and white, plus three fortified and dessert options and a rotating draft lineup — that's a serious by-the-glass program for any market, let alone northwestern Pennsylvania. Pricing runs $7–$14 for a 6oz pour, which is honest for the tier of wine on offer. The 2oz option is a smart move for anyone who wants to graze across multiple pours without committing to a full glass.
Lamoreaux Landing Riesling (New York) — $13/glass
Lamoreaux Landing is a respected Finger Lakes producer and their Riesling is the kind of food-friendly, minerally white that works with half the menu. At $13 a glass you're getting a real wine from a real producer, not a filler pour.
Cune Rioja Crianza Tempranillo
Most people at a casual wine bar will reach for something familiar and Rioja Crianza is chronically underordered by American diners. Cune is a legitimate classic producer and this is one of the most food-friendly, versatile pours on the list — especially with anything from the small plates menu.
Louis Roederer Cristal
At $450 a bottle in a casual downtown Erie wine bar, this is a novelty item, not a value play. The markup data doesn't show retail for comparison, but Cristal at this price point in this context is a trophy purchase. Save it for somewhere the experience matches the tab.
Cune Rioja Crianza Tempranillo + Artisan Pizza
Tempranillo's earthy, cherry-driven profile and moderate tannins are a natural fit for the tomato-based richness of an artisan pizza. Rioja Crianza specifically has enough structure to stand up to toppings without steamrolling anything delicate. It's the move.
Tuesday–Saturday — Half off on-tap wine (plus on-tap beer and featured appetizers) during happy hour: Tuesday–Thursday 4–6pm, Friday 4–6pm and 10pm–12am, Saturday 10pm–12am.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Cloud 9 is the kind of place that earns its Wild Card badge by simply existing and giving a damn about wine in a market where most restaurants stopped trying. The happy hour draft wine deal alone is worth the trip — just stay away from the Cristal unless someone else is buying.
Peach Street Corridor · Erie · Steakhouse
The markup here is genuinely fair, which is the nicest thing we can say — you're not getting ripped off, you're just not getting anything interesting either. If wine matters to you, drink whatever's cheapest and put your attention where it belongs: the steak.

Peach Street Corridor · Erie · Steakhouse / American
Texas Roadhouse is not a wine destination and makes no pretense of being one — the food is the draw and the wine list is an afterthought wearing a flannel shirt. Order a beer, a margarita, or just lean into the Woodbridge Cab and enjoy your steak.

Peach Street Corridor · Erie · Seafood-focused American casual dining
Red Lobster Erie is not a wine destination — it's a seafood chain with a functional, forgettable list that keeps the table watered without inspiring anyone. Order the Chateau Ste. Michelle, enjoy your biscuits, and save the serious bottle for another night.

If you're already staying at the Sheraton and want wine with dinner, Bayfront Grille won't ruin your night — but it won't give you a story to tell, either. Come for the bay view, not the bottle list.

North East · Erie · Winery Cafe
Presque Isle is a wild card in the best sense: an estate winery patio that prices at retail and pours wines you genuinely cannot find anywhere else. If you're passing through Lake Erie wine country and skip this stop, you've missed the point of the trip.

Johnson Estate is a destination for people who want to drink where the wine is made, not a stop for those chasing a deep cellar experience. If you're anywhere near Lake Erie and curious about what this AVA can actually do with Riesling, it's worth the detour.

Legacy West · Plano · Wine Bar / American Small Plates
CRÚ Legacy West is a chain wine bar that punches above its category — sommelier on staff, a deep enough list, and a Sunday half-price bottle deal that genuinely changes the math. Just steer clear of the Cakebread and let the sommelier point you somewhere worth the markup.

Warehouse District/Riverfront · Albany · Wine Bar / American Small Plates
The Shaker & Vine is Albany's best argument for the self-pour wine bar format — the markup is shockingly fair, the riverside setting earns its keep, and the list is approachable without being embarrassing. Don't come hunting for rare producers, but do come for a relaxed pour with a view.
