Wingman Metrics
You're sitting on the Indian River, the sunset is doing its thing, and then the wine list arrives — 14 labels, all of them exactly what you'd expect at a chain steakhouse circa 2011. It's not offensive, it's just completely uninspired for a restaurant that charges steakhouse prices.
The list reads like someone pulled the top sellers off a Sysco catalog and called it a day. California dominates with workhorses like Line 39 and Clos du Bois, Washington State checks in via Chateau Ste. Michelle, and there's a token Italian and a nod to Spain with the El Coto Crianza Rioja. That Rioja is genuinely the most interesting thing on the list, which tells you everything you need to know. There are no small producers, no surprises, and no evidence that anyone spent more than twenty minutes building this program.
All 14 labels are available by the glass, which sounds generous until you realize the entire list is by the glass — there's essentially no bottle-only tier to speak of. Pours start at $8 and cap around $10, which is fair on price but the selection ceiling is low. No rotation, no seasonal additions — what you see today is what you'll see in six months.
El Coto Crianza Rioja — $10
At $10 a glass, this Tempranillo from Rioja is the only pour on the list with any actual character — dried cherry, a little leather, some structure. It holds up against the prime rib in a way that Line 39 Cab simply won't.
Château de Berne Romance Rosé
A Provençal rosé on a Florida waterfront chain list is unexpected. Most people will walk right past it for the Pinot Grigio, but this is the move on a warm evening — especially with the shrimp cocktail.
Beringer White Zinfandel
A grocery store staple that belongs on a gas station rack, not on a steakhouse menu. If you're in the mood for something pink and sweet, the Château de Berne is right there.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling + Chilean Sea Bass
Ste. Michelle's Riesling brings enough acidity and a touch of sweetness to cut through the richness of a buttery sea bass without steamrolling the fish. It's an easy, crowd-friendly pairing that actually makes sense.
❌ The Bottom Line
Chart House Melbourne is here for the view, not the wine list — and honestly, the restaurant knows it. Order the El Coto, watch the river, and keep your expectations anchored firmly to the dock.
North Melbourne · Melbourne · Japanese / Sushi
Makoto isn't trying to be a wine bar and it knows it — the list is short, the labels are familiar, and the prices are genuinely kind. Send your friends here for sushi and tell them to order the Malbec by the bottle; they'll be fine.

The Landing Rooftop is a reliable spot for a glass with a genuinely spectacular view — hit it on a Wednesday when the wines go half price and the Cambria Chardonnay becomes the best deal on the Space Coast. Don't come here to geek out on wine; do come here to drink something decent while watching a rocket launch.

Hemingway's Tavern isn't a wine destination, but it earns its keep with a list that's wider than the vibe suggests and a Wednesday half-price bottle deal that makes even the steeper markups disappear. Come for the tacos, stay for the Albariño, and thank the calendar for getting you there on Wednesday.

It's a counter-service Greek grill in a strip mall that serves Xinomavro and Assyrtiko at fair prices — that's either a minor miracle or a Wild Card, and we're calling it the latter. Don't sleep on the wine list just because you're eating off a paper tray.

Outback's wine list is exactly what you'd expect from a national chain that treats wine as a revenue line item rather than a program worth caring about. Come for the steak, order the Chateau Ste. Michelle if you need a bottle, and save the real wine exploration for a different night.

Texas Roadhouse is not a wine destination and makes zero pretense of being one — we respect the honesty, even if we can't respect the list. Order the rolls, order the ribs, order a beer, and let the wine page collect dust.
