First Impression
The wine list at Bistro Zinc reads like someone actually gave a damn about building a proper French-focused program in South Florida. Over 100 labels with serious Burgundy and Champagne representation tells you they're not just dropping the usual Napa suspects and calling it a day. The challenge: only 9 wines by the glass feels stingy for a list this size.
Selection Deep Dive
The Burgundy section earns respect with producers like Domaine Darviot-Perrin—their Meursault 'Clos Velle' is no throwaway village bottling. Pol Roger Brut NV shows they understand Champagne beyond the usual Moët and Veuve suspects. The Rhône selection includes Domaine Chante Cigale's Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a well-regarded producer that balances tradition with approachability. They've also hedged their bets with Willamette Valley Pinot and California standards, which makes sense when you're dealing with the resort crowd. What's missing: more adventurous pricing tiers and newer-generation winemakers that would push this from good to great.
By the Glass
Nine by-the-glass options for a 100+ bottle list feels like a missed opportunity. We're guessing the usual suspects—maybe a Sancerre, a Chablis, a Côtes du Rhône—but with this kind of inventory, they could be rotating seasonally or highlighting grower Champagnes. Instead, it reads like they picked nine wines five years ago and haven't looked back.
Domaine Chante Cigale Châteauneuf-du-Pape — $85
Assuming typical bistro markup, this southern Rhône powerhouse delivers complexity and ageability without hitting triple digits—solid producer, classic appellation
Pol Roger Brut NV Champagne
While everyone chases Dom and Cristal, Pol Roger remains Winston Churchill's pick for a reason—elegance, finesse, and a price that doesn't require a second mortgage
Meursault 'Clos Velle' Domaine Darviot-Perrin '10
2010 white Burgundy is past its prime unless stored perfectly, and at likely $150+, you're gambling on a decade-old bottle in Florida heat—order something fresher
Domaine Chante Cigale Châteauneuf-du-Pape + Pan Roasted Dayboat Scallops
The Grenache-based blend's red fruit and garrigue herbs cut through the scallop's richness while the wine's texture matches the char—classic French synergy
✔️ The Bottom Line
Bistro Zinc has the bones of a serious wine program with Old World focus and legitimate producers, but the limited glass pours and likely resort-area markups keep it from reaching its potential. Come for the Moules Frites, stay for the Burgundy—just know you're paying for the Jupiter zip code.
