Wingman Metrics
A Venezuelan arepa spot with a wine list isn't something you see every day in Atlanta — and honestly, we respect the audacity. Eight labels, all available by the glass, all priced between $7 and $9. That's it. That's the list.
Don't come here looking for a deep cellar moment. The list leans heavily on crowd-friendly South American and Italian-adjacent bottles — Natura Organic wines, Casillero del Diablo, Santa Maria Pinot Grigio. These aren't destination producers, but they're honest, food-friendly pours that won't embarrass you. The Finca del Castillo Tempranillo and Serie Riberas Gran Reserva Cab are the only bottles with any real backbone, giving the list a vague gesture toward something more serious. No white whales, no surprises, but nothing offensive either.
Every single bottle on the list is available by the glass, which is a genuinely good move for a casual spot where people are splitting arepas and experimenting. At $7–$9 a glass, you can try a couple without your tab going sideways. Rotation appears nonexistent — this looks like a set list that doesn't change much — but at these prices, it's hard to complain loudly.
Natura Organic Malbec — $9
Organic Malbec from Chile at $9 a glass is genuinely hard to beat at a casual restaurant. It's soft enough not to fight the food and interesting enough that you won't feel like you're drinking filler.
Finca del Castillo Tempranillo
Most people ordering wine at an arepa spot will default to the Malbec or the Pinot Noir without thinking twice. The Tempranillo is the move — earthy, a little rustic, and it actually has some character in a lineup that otherwise plays it very safe.
Backhouse Chardonnay
Backhouse is a commercial label with all the character of a grocery store endcap. At $8–$9, there are better glass pours on this exact same list.
Natura Organic Sauvignon Blanc + Reina Pepiada Arepa
The chicken and avocado filling in a Reina Pepiada wants something bright and herbaceous to cut through the richness. The Natura Sauvignon Blanc — crisp, citrus-forward, organic — does exactly that without overthinking it.
The Bottom Line
Is this a wine destination? Absolutely not. But for a casual Venezuelan spot pouring everything by the glass under $9, Arepa Mia earns its Wild Card badge by simply giving a damn when they didn't have to.
· Atlanta · Sushi / Omakase
Sushi By Bou is clearly here to serve great fish — and the wine list confirms that wine is very much an afterthought. Order the Dom if you're feeling flush or the Hampton Water if you're being sensible, and let the food do the heavy lifting.

· Atlanta · Mediterranean / New American
Rose & Rye isn't a destination for wine nerds, but it's a perfectly functional list for a date night where the wine is supporting the evening, not headlining it. Order the Crémant, avoid the Caymus markup, and you'll do just fine.

· Atlanta · Steakhouse
Hal's delivers a competent, Napa-forward bottle list that does exactly what a steakhouse wine program is supposed to do — just without much surprise or value mercy. Send a friend here if they want a reliable big-red experience; warn them to leave the credit card breathing room.

· Atlanta · Fast Casual
Nando's is here for the chicken, and the wine list knows it — eight uninspired labels that exist to check a box, not to enhance your meal. Order the Vinho Verde, enjoy your peri-peri, and don't overthink it.

Bici's wine list won't knock you sideways, but it's honest, Italian-focused, and fairly priced — a reliable partner to the food. We'd send a friend here and tell them to skip the Sauvignon Blanc and go straight for the Greco.

· Atlanta · Southern
SouthernNational is doing something genuinely unusual — running a tight, Europe-forward wine list inside a Southern kitchen, and mostly pulling it off. If you're tired of the same Sonoma Pinot and overpriced Malbec at every restaurant in town, this list is worth your attention.
