Wingman Metrics
Five wines. That's the whole list. At a lively modern Mexican spot in Bloomington where tequila and tacos are clearly running the show, wine is very much the supporting cast. But at $7–$9.50 a glass, the price of admission is low enough that we're not complaining.
The list reads like a greatest-hits of approachable value labels — Santa Julia, Line 39, Ballard Lane, Tilia, Tortoise Creek — nothing that's going to start a conversation, but nothing embarrassing either. California dominates, with a couple of value-tier imports rounding things out. There's a Borsao Rosé from Spain's Campo de Borja that's the one interesting detour on an otherwise predictable tour. Don't come here chasing Burgundy or biodynamic skin-contact anything — this list exists to get wine into your hand quickly while you wait on fajitas.
All five bottles are available by the glass, which means zero rotation and zero mystery — what you see is what you get, every single night. That said, Wednesday's half-price happy hour (3–5 pm) drops those glasses into the $3.50–$4.75 range, which is genuinely hard to argue with for a mid-week taco run. There are reportedly a few bonus pours on that Wednesday special list not found on the regular menu, which is a nice touch.
Borsao Rosé — $9.50
The only wine here that didn't come off a California shelf-talker endcap. Campo de Borja Garnacha rosé at under ten bucks a glass is a solid deal and actually works with the food.
Conundrum White Blend
Most people scroll past blends with no varietal label, but Conundrum's California white blend — Chardonnay, Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier — has more going on than anything else on this list and tends to get overlooked in favor of the house Chardonnay.
Ballard Lane Chardonnay
Nothing wrong with it, but oak-forward California Chardonnay is the last thing you want fighting with chile heat and citrus-dressed tacos. Save your glass for something that plays nicer with the kitchen.
Borsao Rosé + Street-Style Tacos
Garnacha rosé has the fruit and the acid to cut through taco fillings without steamrolling the spice — it's the one wine on this list that was clearly built for exactly this kind of food.
Wednesday — 50% off glasses of wine every Wednesday from 3–5 pm, including a few special pours not on the regular list. Standard happy hour runs Sunday–Friday 3–6 pm but wine discounts may vary.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Ancho & Agave is not a wine destination, and it knows it — but Wednesday half-price pours at a fun taco spot is a perfectly good reason to skip the cocktail menu for once. Come for the food, grab the Borsao Rosé, and leave the wine nerd hat at home.

LongHorn's wine list exists to check a box, not to elevate your meal. Stick to the Riesling or the Meiomi, enjoy your steak, and don't expect the wine program to be the reason you came.

Logan's Roadhouse is a perfectly fine place to eat a steak and throw peanut shells on the floor — but the wine list is an afterthought, and the markup makes ordering a bottle feel like a small punishment. Stick to one glass of the Riesling or pivot to a beer.

Jim's isn't trying to be a wine destination and it doesn't pretend otherwise — but the markups are fair, the selections are well-matched to the food, and there's enough range to keep things interesting for a night out. Send a friend here for the steak; the wine will hold up just fine.

You're not coming to Hy-Vee Market Grille for a wine revelation — but on a Wednesday, with half-price pours and half-price sushi, it's one of the better casual deals in town. Manage expectations, bring cash, and embrace the absurdity.

Biaggi's is a perfectly decent dinner out, but the wine list is running on autopilot — familiar brands, steep markups, and zero curiosity. Order the Chianti, enjoy the pasta, and don't expect the wine to be the reason you come back.

Los Primos is a solid neighborhood Mexican spot, but the wine program is purely incidental — three glasses, no bottles, no story. Stick to the margaritas, which is almost certainly what the kitchen and bar were built around anyway.

Margarita's is a genuinely fun neighborhood spot, but the wine list is an afterthought dressed up as a decision. Come for the fajitas and the cocktails — if you must have wine, grab the Riesling and move on.

Lindo is a solid casual Mexican spot with lake views and a great cocktail program — just don't come here for wine. Order a margarita, enjoy the view, and save the bottle for somewhere else.
