Half Shell is a genuinely charming spot with food worth coming back for — but the wine list is coasting hard on the restaurant's atmosphere and doing almost nothing to earn its markups. Drink the Vinho Verde, skip the red wine section entirely, and put your money toward another round of oysters.

Send your parents here for a birthday dinner; just steer them toward Tuscany and away from Napa.

Capital Grille Memphis is the rare chain that earns its wine reputation — a well-stocked, professionally managed list with a sommelier on the floor and glassware to match. We'd send a friend here for a steak-and-Cabernet night without hesitation, just don't expect to discover anything outside the California comfort zone.

Flight's wine cellar is the most serious wine program on South Main, full stop — a knowledgeable staff, proper storage, and real glassware put it ahead of most of Memphis. The pricing leans steep and the list plays it safe with California heavyweights, but if you want a reliable, well-executed wine experience in a room that actually respects the bottle, this is your spot.

The Majestic Grille is a reliable downtown anchor with a wine list that earns its keep — solid range, decent BTG options, and a few genuinely interesting bottles tucked in. Just watch your spend on the top-shelf California names, where the markup does the restaurant more favors than it does you.
