Walk into Ziggy's expecting a buzzy Aspen bar and the wine list catches you off guard — in a good way. Fifteen labels doesn't sound like much until you clock a Gump Hof Sauvignon Blanc from Alto Adige sitting next to a Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Rouge. Someone with actual taste put this together.
The list leans Old World without ignoring California, and that balance holds up under scrutiny. France anchors things with Burgundy, Rhône, and a Bordeaux Grand Cru from St-Émilion, while Italy shows up through a Sardinian Vermentino and an Austrian Grüner sneaks into the mix too. California gets a proper seat at the table with Talley Vineyards Chardonnay from Arroyo Grande and ZD Wines Carneros Pinot Noir — neither of which are lazy picks. The gap is obvious: no Riesling, no skin-contact options, and the red side skews thin outside of France and Napa.
All 15 labels pour by the glass, which is the whole program — and honestly that's the right call for a bar format. Prices run $16 to $30, which in Aspen is practically charitable. The range covers enough ground that you're not stuck choosing between two indifferent Cabs.
2022 Clos du Val Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon — $24
Clos du Val is a Napa legacy producer with genuine pedigree and a bottle that retails well above what you'd expect to backtrack to a $24 glass pour in a mountain ski town. This is the rare Napa Cab by-the-glass that doesn't feel like a shakedown.
2024 M. Prackwieser Gump Hof Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc
Most people at a bar in Aspen are reaching for Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio. The Gump Hof Sauvignon Blanc from Alto Adige is a completely different animal — alpine, precise, and savory in a way that New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc never is. It's the most interesting white on the list and almost nobody orders it.
Moet Chandon Imperial Brut
At $30 a glass, Moët Imperial is the most predictable thing on the menu. It's fine, but it's airport Champagne at a price that could buy you something far more interesting from the same list. Pass.
2024 Antonella Corda Vermentino di Sardegna + Oysters or raw bar selection
Vermentino di Sardegna has that saline, citrus-driven snap that was basically engineered for shellfish. If Ziggy's runs any raw bar or seafood-forward small plates, this is the move — bright acidity, no fuss, cuts right through.
The Bottom Line
Ziggy's punches well above its bar-list weight class, and the pricing won't leave you feeling robbed the way Aspen usually does. It's not a destination wine program, but it's a genuinely good one hidden inside a place most people are going to for cocktails.

Clark's Oyster Bar Aspen earns the Wild Card badge by doing something almost no oyster bar does: ditching the dry wine playbook entirely and building a focused, globally-sourced dessert wine list with real producers at fair prices. It's a bizarre and commendable choice. Come for the oysters, stay for the Madeira — just don't expect a Muscadet to wash them down.

MOLLIE runs one of the most thoughtful compact lists in Aspen, and the all-by-the-glass format means you can drink your way through France without committing to a bottle. The pricing is fair for the altitude and the address, and the curation punches above a typical hotel program. If you're passing through and want a smart glass of wine without a thesis-length wine list, this is your spot.

Hotel Jerome's Living Room list is a pleasant surprise in a market where hotel wine programs often coast on tourist ignorance and Famous Names. The selection is short but curated, with enough Old World intrigue — the Vajra Barbera, the Quintodecimo, the Bandol rosé — to reward the curious. Markups are real and Aspen-appropriate, so set your expectations accordingly. If you're staying at the hotel or catching a drink after a ski day, you'll drink well here without feeling insulted.

Mezzaluna's wine list is a missed opportunity in a town that could easily support something far more interesting. The markups are real — Santa Margherita at $64 and Joel Gott Cab at $60 are doing the heavy lifting on margin — and the selection never ventures beyond brands your parents recognize. If you're eating here, drink the Frescobaldi or the Ruffino Riserva and call it a night; don't expect the list to surprise you.

AspenX Beach Club is exactly what it advertises: a spectacle first, a wine program second. There's a sommelier on staff and the Champagne-and-rosé focus is at least intentional and coherent, but pricing at this address in this atmosphere is going to sting. Go for the experience, order something cold and bubbly, and don't stress about the list — that's clearly not the point.

Nobu Aspen's wine list won't win awards for depth or value, but it earns respect for its unexpected Australian backbone and a by-the-glass program that actually has range and structure.
