Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Wild River Grille reads like a greatest hits of recognizable California names — approachable, inoffensive, and built to sell. It's not going to challenge you, but it's not going to embarrass you either, which is more than you can say for half the wine lists in Reno.
The 50–80 bottle list leans hard into California with a supporting cast from Italy, and that's about where the ambition ends. You'll find brand-friendly picks like The Calling Cab from Alexander Valley and Cherry Tart Pinot from Santa Barbara — wines that work the crowd but don't exactly signal that anyone here is losing sleep over the cellar. The Eldorado Hills Red Blend is the lone nod to regional character, and it's worth noting. Italy shows up mostly through La Marca Prosecco, which tells you the Italian section isn't exactly a deep dive into the boot.
With 10–16 options by the glass, there's enough to keep a table happy without everyone committing to a bottle. The range covers the usual suspects — whites, reds, bubbles — and the Sunday Uncorked program suggests at least some intention around rotating what's poured. Don't expect anything wild or esoteric in the glass lineup, but the breadth is decent for a neighborhood New American spot.
Eldorado Hills Red Blend — null
The most interesting bottle on the list and likely the most overlooked. A local California producer that actually represents the region — skip the national brands and give this one a shot.
Cherry Tart Pinot Noir Santa Barbara 2014
Santa Barbara Pinot flies under the radar for most casual diners, but this is genuinely good juice from a strong appellation. Most tables will grab the Cab without a second thought — their loss.
La Marca Prosecco D.O.C.
La Marca is a grocery store staple marked up to restaurant pricing. You're paying a premium for something you could grab at Costco on the way over.
The Federalist Chardonnay Sonoma 2015 + Salmon
A Sonoma Chard with enough weight to hold up to a rich salmon preparation without steamrolling it — this is the straightforward call that actually works.
Sunday — Sundays Uncorked: Weekly food and wine pairing event with a personal tasting plate. Not a discount program — more of a curated tasting experience.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Wild River Grille is a dependable option in Reno's Riverwalk — nothing on the wine list is going to blow your mind, but the Sunday Uncorked program shows some genuine effort and the Eldorado Hills Red Blend gives you a real reason to explore beyond the safe picks. Send a friend here who wants a decent pour with dinner, not a wine geek looking for a deep list.
Downtown / Casino Row · Reno · Upscale American Steakhouse
Ruth's Chris Reno is a reliable, well-run steakhouse wine program inside a casino resort — competent glassware, proper storage, and a sommelier who knows the list cold. Just don't come here looking for discovery; come here knowing exactly what you want and prepared to pay full freight for it.

Sierra St. Kitchen punches above its weight for downtown Reno — the list has real producers, genuine range, and a sommelier keeping it honest. Just know the markups are real, and steer toward the Old World and Pacific Northwest bottles where the value hides.

Calafuria isn't trying to be a destination wine list — it's trying to be the right wine list for this restaurant, and it mostly succeeds. Send your friends here if they want something Italian that doesn't feel phoned in; just don't expect fireworks beyond the bottle.

Northwest Reno · Reno · Health-focused American café with organic, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and paleo options
Great Full Gardens isn't a wine destination and it doesn't pretend to be — but for a health-focused café in Northwest Reno, the glass prices are honest and the pours are solid enough to enjoy alongside the food. Send a friend here for lunch, just don't tell them to order the Chardonnay.

LuLou's wine list won't win any awards, but it won't ruin your dinner either — and in a city where restaurant wine programs often feel like an afterthought, that counts for something. Send a friend here for a solid meal with a bottle of Jordan; just don't expect to discover anything new.

Roxy isn't a destination wine program — it's a competent casino steakhouse list with the right bottles for the room. Show up on a Wednesday, order the Jordan at half price, and you'll leave happy.

CraftWay Kitchen isn't trying to be a wine destination and doesn't pretend to be — but the markups are fair, the glass program is wide, and there's enough on the list to drink well with a solid meal. Send your friends here for dinner; just don't send them here for a wine education.

Clemmons · Winston Salem · New American
Sixty Vines is a solid, reliable wine stop in Winston-Salem — the by-the-glass breadth is real and the staff knows their stuff, but the list reads like a greatest hits album rather than anything adventurous. Come for the volume, stay for the pizza, but don't expect to have your mind changed about wine.
