Wingman Metrics
You don't expect to walk into Coeur d'Alene and find a wine list that references both Lingua Franca and a solid Sancerre, but here we are. The room feels modern and intentional β this isn't a restaurant that threw wine on a menu as an afterthought. Someone actually thought about this list.
The 80-120 bottle range gives Vine & Olive real legs to work with, and they use the space well β leaning into Pacific Northwest heavyweights from Oregon and Washington while weaving in French and South American imports that don't feel random. Seeing Lingua Franca Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley on a Coeur d'Alene list is a genuine signal of intent; that's a producer people drive to Portland to find. The Piattelli 'TrinitΓ‘' Malbec from Uco Valley shows they're not just defaulting to generic Argentine bulk wine either. The regional Idaho representation isn't prominently documented, which is a missed opportunity given how interesting the Snake River Valley has gotten.
Sixteen to twenty-four pours by the glass is a serious commitment for a restaurant this size, and it means you can actually explore the list without committing to a bottle on a Tuesday. We'd want to know how often those pours rotate β a static BTG list at a place like this goes stale fast. If they're cycling in seasonal picks, this becomes one of the stronger glass programs in the region.
Piattelli Vineyards 'TrinitΓ‘' Malbec Blend Uco Valley 2021 β $58
Uco Valley Malbec blends at this price point routinely retail for $25-35, so the restaurant markup is restrained. You're getting a high-altitude, structured wine that earns its place next to the small plates menu without requiring a financial commitment you'll regret.
Domaine Dominique Janine Crochet Sancerre 2022
Most people ordering Sancerre in Idaho are reaching for the most recognizable label they can find β this producer flies under the radar compared to the Henri Bourgeois crowd but delivers the same crisp Loire Valley tension. Order it cold, drink it with anything briny or herby on the menu.
Lingua Franca Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2021
At $63, this isn't a rip-off β but Lingua Franca is widely distributed and well-known enough that you're essentially paying restaurant markup on a wine you could find at a decent bottle shop. Save this one for a splurge at home and let the restaurant show you something you can't easily find yourself.
Domaine Dominique Janine Crochet Sancerre 2022 + Hummus and mezze-style sharables
Sancerre's natural acidity and herbaceous edge cuts through tahini richness and plays well with olive oil, lemon, and pickled vegetables. It's the kind of pairing that feels obvious in retrospect and makes the whole table look smart.
π² The Bottom Line
Vine & Olive is doing something genuinely interesting for its market β a thoughtful, fairly priced list in a city that doesn't always demand one. If you're passing through Coeur d'Alene and care about what's in your glass, this is your stop.
Lake Coeur d'Alene Β· Coeur d'Alene Β· Lounge
Cedar's earns its Wild Card badge not because the list is revolutionary, but because a 120-label program with local Idaho pours and a sommelier on staff is the last thing you expect from a tourist-magnet floating lounge. Send your friends here, point them toward the Coeur d'Alene Cellars glass pours, and let the lake do the rest of the work.

Vine & Olive isn't trying to be a destination wine list, but it's the kind of place you'd confidently bring a wine-curious friend knowing they won't be let down. For the Inland Northwest, that's worth something.
