Valenza's wine program is organized the Italian way and runs almost entirely Italian. By the glass: Borgo Conventi Pinot Grigio from Friuli ($16), Marchesi di Barolo Gavi ($16), Bramito Umbria Chardonnay ($17), Domaine Serge Laporte Sancerre ($26), Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico Riserva ($19), Il Bruciato Super Tuscan ($21), Caparzo Brunello ($30), and Caymus California Cab ($26). Sparkling starts at Lamberti Prosecco ($13/$52) and climbs to Berlucchi Franciacorta ($88) and Veuve Clicquot ($145). Champagne tops out at Krug Grand Cuvee ($410) and Eric Rodez Blanc de Blancs ($230).
This is where Valenza separates from every other Italian restaurant in metro Atlanta. Barolo: Ca'Rome Ceretta ($215), Marchesi di Barolo Cannubi ($205), Elvio Cogno Ravera ($200). Brunello: Caparzo 2008 ($260), La Fiorita ($160), Castello Banfi ($155), Argiano ($175). Amarone: Bertani ($160), Allegrini ($175), Masi Costasera Riserva ($215). Super Tuscan: Antinori Tignanello ($350), Ornellaia ($445), Sassicaia ($445), Chioccioli AltoRe ($300). French and American reserves round out with Chateau La Lagune Haut-Medoc ($150), Silver Oak Alexander Valley ($200), and DuMOL Pinot Noir ($160). Half-priced bottles on Mondays.
Sassicaia and Ornellaia at $445. Tignanello at $350. Krug Grand Cuvee at $410. Five Barolos. Four Brunellos. Four Amarones. Half-priced bottles on Mondays. Valenza has the deepest Italian cellar on the Buford Highway corridor and one of the deepest in the Southeast. The 4.9 OpenTable rating with over 3,200 reviews and the handmade pastas are almost beside the point. This is an Italian wine destination.
Monday — Half-priced bottles
🔥 The Bottom Line
Valenza has Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Tignanello, and Krug on a wine list that reads like a collector's inventory. Half-priced bottles on Mondays make this the best Italian wine value play in Atlanta.
West Midtown · Atlanta · Alpine / European
Avize is doing something genuinely rare in Atlanta: building a short wine list with actual conviction, pointed straight at the corners of Europe that deserve more attention. If you eat here and don't order something you've never heard of, you're doing it wrong.

By George is a fine place to drink wine if you know what you're walking into — a curated-but-safe list built for a stylish crowd that wants rosé and bubbles without friction. Come for the Crémant and the Tavel; don't expect to find anything that'll make you rethink your relationship with wine.

Nine Mile Station isn't a destination for wine nerds, but it's a perfectly decent place to drink something cold and recognizable while the Atlanta skyline does the heavy lifting. Come for the view, drink the Crémant, ignore the Rombauer.

Vin Atl is doing something most Atlanta wine bars aren't: curating a short list with genuine intention instead of padding it with safe bets. At these prices, it's worth a stop even if you only come for one bottle.

St. Julep is a place to drink wine, not a place to drink well. If you're here for the skyline and the scene, pour the rosé and enjoy it — just don't come expecting the list to surprise you.

The James Room is a cocktail bar first and a wine destination never — but the list is competent enough to get you through a bottle without frustration. Come for the atmosphere, order the Cava or the Sancerre, and let the cocktail menu handle the heavy lifting.

The Palm Miami earns its Wine Spectator Award of Excellence on the strength of a reliable, well-stored California-focused list that does exactly what it's supposed to do in a steakhouse setting. It won't surprise you, but it won't embarrass you either — just budget accordingly, because the markups here are real.

The Palm DC is a perfectly competent California wine destination if you want big names, reliable quality, and zero surprises — just know you're paying for the address as much as the wine. Send your client here, but order Jordan, not Opus One.

Veneto is quietly one of the best Italian wine lists in the mountain west — focused, deep where it counts, and priced with enough fairness that you won't wince at the bill. Send your friends here, and tell them to order the Barolo.
