Most people walk past Frontenac for something more familiar, but this grape produces a surprisingly bold red with dark cherry and a hint of earthiness that rewards the curious. It's also a grape you're unlikely to encounter anywhere outside of the Northeast, which makes it worth ordering on that alone.
The Saratoga Winery Raspberry Wine
If you're here for wine in any serious sense, the fruit wines are a detour you don't need to take. They skew sweet and novelty-driven, and at a winery producing genuinely solid cold-hardy varietals, the Raspberry feels like it's competing for a different customer entirely.
The Saratoga Winery Marquette + Wood-Fired Pizza
The char and smoke from the wood-fired oven need a wine with enough body and grip to keep up — Marquette's dark fruit and firm tannins do exactly that without overwhelming the toppings.
