The Roost lands in that familiar hotel bar territory — polished enough to feel intentional, but not so deep that you'd call it a destination for wine. The list clocks in around 40-60 bottles with a genuine spread across regions, which is more than you'd expect from a property that's really selling you sunset views. It reads like someone with taste built it, even if corporate didn't give them a blank check.
The geography here is respectable: California anchors the list with names like Stags Leap Chardonnay and Alexander Valley Cabernet, France shows up via Chateau de Sancerre and Laurent-Perrier Champagne, and there's genuine range into Spain (CUNE Tempranillo), Argentina (Piattelli Malbec Reserve), and Italy (Scarpetta Pinot Grigio). Dave Phinney's Locations Red Blend is a crowd-smart pick that still has some personality to it. What's missing is any real depth — no verticals, no esoteric finds, no producers that would make a serious wine drinker stop scrolling. This is a list built for people who know what they like, not for people who want to discover something new.
Twelve to sixteen options by the glass is a solid count for a hotel bar — you're not stuck choosing between house white and house red. The Mirabeau Dry Sparkling Rosé and Syltbar Prosecco il Concerto give the bubbles category some actual thought, which we appreciate in a place where half the room is celebrating something. Rotation appears minimal, so don't expect the list to surprise you on your third visit.
CUNE Tempranillo — null
Spain consistently punches above its weight on restaurant lists, and CUNE is one of the more reliable names in Rioja. In a list otherwise leaning heavily California and France, this is where your dollar stretches furthest — structured, food-friendly, and priced below where the Cabs sit.
Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc
Most people at a Key West bar are reaching for something cold and obvious. Long Meadow Ranch's Sauvignon Blanc is a Napa Valley producer that puts real work into their whites — more textured and interesting than the name implies. Easy to overlook next to the Sancerre, but worth the order if you want substance without the Sancerre markup.
Laurent Perrier Reserve Brut Champagne
Laurent-Perrier is a fine house, but hotel bars are notoriously brutal on Champagne markups. You're almost certainly paying a significant premium over retail for the label and the occasion — the Mirabeau Sparkling Rosé or Syltbar Prosecco will scratch the same itch for considerably less.
Chateau de Sancerre Sancerre + Fresh Seafood
Key West menus built around local catch are practically begging for a crisp Loire Sauvignon Blanc. Sancerre's bright acidity and mineral edge cut through any richness and amplify the clean salinity of fresh Gulf seafood — it's the most geographically appropriate thing on this list.
The Bottom Line
The Roost is a hotel bar doing more than the minimum — there's real range here and a few genuinely good picks if you know where to look. Just go in expecting to pay for the waterfront zip code, and you'll have a fine time.

La Trattoria isn't trying to reinvent anything, but it's putting in more wine effort than most of its neighbors on Duval Street. Fair prices on Italian bottles, a usable by-the-glass program, and real depth in the Italian reds make it a reliable choice — just don't order the La Marca Prosecco.

The Resort at Southernmost Beach is selling the view, and the wine list knows it — there's no reason to put in effort when the sunset does all the heavy lifting. If you're ordering wine here, stick to the Ste. Michelle Riesling or just pop the Prosecco and enjoy where you are. Don't come here for the wine program; come here despite it.

We'd send a friend here for a pre-dinner glass on a Wednesday without hesitation — just know that we're working from strong vibes and limited menu data, so go in curious rather than with a specific bottle in mind. When we get the full list, this one could move up the rankings fast.

If you're on Duval Street and want a glass of wine that doesn't taste like an afterthought, this is your spot.

Caroline's Café is not a wine destination, and it's not trying to be — the identical pricing across all five house labels makes that abundantly clear. If you're in Key West looking for something interesting in your glass, keep walking; if you just need a cold pour of Chardonnay with your lunch and aren't asking questions, $8 gets you there without drama.

Key West Winery is a Wild Card because the concept itself is the draw — tropical fruit wines in the Florida Keys is exactly as niche and fun as it sounds, and it earns its badge on novelty alone. We wouldn't send a serious wine drinker here as a primary destination, but if you're already in Old Town and curious about what local winemaking looks like when grapes aren't the star, it's worth a tasting flight. Go in with the right expectations and you'll leave entertained; go in looking for a Côte de Nuits and you'll leave confused.
