The Placery's wine list is exactly what you'd expect from a hotel bar that put about twenty minutes of thought into it. Ten labels, all $44 a bottle, every single one — a flat-rate pricing scheme that feels more like a vending machine than a wine program. There is nothing here that will surprise you, and that is clearly by design.
The list reads like a supermarket endcap brought to life: Michael Mondavi Canvas takes up five of the ten slots, giving you their Blanc de Blancs Brut, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon all in a row. Fill out the remaining spots with La Marca Prosecco, Prophecy Rosé, Murphy-Goode Sauvignon Blanc, Freixenet Blanc de Blancs, and a Chateau Ste. Michelle Cab, and you've got the whole picture. No old-world presence, no regional curiosity, no producer with a story worth telling. This is a list built for frictionless ordering, not for drinking well.
Nine of the ten bottles pour by the glass at $9.25–$11, which is the one genuinely functional thing going on here. The range is essentially the full list minus one bottle, so what you see is what you get. Rotation is not a concept that appears to live here.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon — $44
It's the most recognizable name with actual winemaking credibility on this list. Ste. Michelle's Columbia Valley Cab punches above its retail price, and at $44 a bottle in a hotel bar, it's the least painful option if you're committing to a full bottle.
Murphy-Goode Sauvignon Blanc
Nobody comes to a Hyatt bar and orders the Sauvignon Blanc, which means it's probably fresher than whatever else has been sitting open. It's a crowd-pleasing Sonoma SB that at least has some personality — easy citrus, crisp finish — and it tends to get overlooked next to the Chardonnay and Prosecco crowd.
Freixenet Blanc de Blancs Brut
At $44 a bottle, you're paying hotel-bar markup on a Spanish sparkling wine you can find at Trader Joe's for under $10. La Marca is the better sparkling pick if you must go bubbly — at least it has some name recognition and slightly more charm.
Prophecy Rosé + Bar snacks or light appetizers
Without confirmed menu dishes we can't get specific, but Prophecy Rosé is light and inoffensive enough to work with whatever casual bar bites the kitchen is running. It's the path of least resistance here, and sometimes that's the honest answer.
The Bottom Line
The Placery is a wine list in the same way a hotel gym is a fitness center — technically true, but you're not here to get serious. Order a cocktail or grab the Ste. Michelle Cab if you need a bottle, and save your real wine night for somewhere that cares.

Canyon Crest Winery is a genuine local gem for Riverside residents who want to drink well without driving to Temecula. It's not a deep-list destination, but for a casual pour at fair prices in a relaxed setting, it earns its spot on the map.
