Wingman Metrics
Walking into Canyon Crest Winery feels less like a restaurant and more like stumbling into someone's well-kept estate โ in the best way. The list is tight, house-focused, and makes no apologies for it. You're here to drink their wine, and they know it.
The list is essentially a house showcase: Canyon Crest's own California-sourced Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Merlot anchor the lineup, with little in the way of outside producers or regional variety. That's the trade-off at an estate-style operation โ you get depth in their own portfolio, but don't expect an Old World detour or anything off the beaten path. Bottles land mostly in the $20โ$40 range, which keeps things accessible if you find a pour you love. The California focus is consistent and honest, even if the range tops out at familiar varietals.
Roughly 8โ12 pours cycle through the bar, all pulled from the house lineup. At $8โ$12 a glass, this is one of the more wallet-friendly by-the-glass programs in the Inland Empire. Rotation appears limited โ don't expect surprises week to week.
Canyon Crest Winery Zinfandel โ $20โ$40
A California Zin at estate prices, without the Napa markup. If you're buying a bottle to settle in on the patio, this is the move.
Canyon Crest Winery Syrah
Most people reach for the Cab or Zin, but the Syrah is the one worth slowing down for โ a variety that tends to show more texture and character than the crowd-pleasers on any California estate list.
Canyon Crest Winery Merlot
Merlot at a small California estate often gets treated as an afterthought, and without specific evidence that this one punches above its weight, the Zinfandel or Syrah will almost certainly give you more to talk about.
Canyon Crest Winery Cabernet Sauvignon + Charcuterie board
A California Cab and a spread of cured meats and hard cheese is a low-risk, high-reward move at any winery bistro โ the tannins cut through the fat and the whole thing tastes like a better afternoon than you planned.
๐ฒ The Bottom Line
Canyon Crest Winery is a genuine local gem for Riverside residents who want to drink well without driving to Temecula. It's not a deep-list destination, but for a casual pour at fair prices in a relaxed setting, it earns its spot on the map.

Sizzler's wine program is a formality, not a feature. Come for the salad bar and the cheese toast, order a soda or a beer, and save your wine curiosity for literally anywhere else.

Yard House is a beer destination that happens to pour wine, and the wine list knows its place. Unless you're genuinely stuck here and need something in a glass, skip the wine, order a craft draft, and let the beer list do what it was built to do.

Cask 'n Cleaver isn't a destination for wine, but it's not embarrassing either โ come for the prime rib, pick Jordan Cab, and call it a solid night. If you're serious about the bottle, check the markup before you commit.

Islands Riverside is not a wine destination and makes no attempt to be one โ the list is an afterthought bolted onto a beverage program built around beer and cocktails. Order a cold beer or a tropical cocktail, enjoy your burger, and save the wine for a different night.

PF Chang's Tyler Street isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be โ and within those limits, it mostly delivers. Bring someone who wants a solid glass with dinner, not someone who wants to geek out over a list.
