Wingman Metrics
The wine list at The Hammond isn't trying to impress you — but it does anyway. Seventy labels, a clear love of Oregon Pinot Noir, and prices that don't make you do double takes. This is a craft bar that actually takes the wine side of the menu seriously.
The backbone here is Pacific Northwest red wine, and it's a strong one. Oregon Pinot Noir gets the deepest treatment — from the entry-level Chehalem at $46 up through the serious Shea Wine Cellars Shea Vineyard at $98 and the Hirsch San Andreas Fault Pinot at $152, there's a genuine range of ambition. Washington Cabernet holds its own with multiple solid options: Amavi, Powers Champoux Vineyard Reserve, and Col Solare all make appearances. The Australian wild card — Vasse Felix Cab at $56 — shows someone was paying attention beyond the Columbia Valley. Where the list gets thinner is on the white and international sides, so if you're hunting for Chablis or anything remotely Old World, you'll need to manage expectations.
Thirteen options by the glass is a generous pour for a craft bar. The range spans $9.50 to $14, which is frankly reasonable — the Andrew Rich SGM Little Table at $14 a glass is the headline move here, and the Wilful Jezebel Pinot Noir by the glass is a solid everyday Oregon pick. Rotation seems static rather than seasonal, but what's there is curated, not just filler.
Chehalem Pinot Noir 2019 — $46
Chehalem is a consistently reliable Willamette producer and $46 for a bottle at a restaurant is close to what you'd pay retail. For anyone who wants to drink real Oregon Pinot without opening their entire wallet, this is the move.
Andrew Rich Syrah Grenache Mourvèdre Little Table 2019
Most people at a craft bar in Vancouver, WA are reaching for a Cab or a Pinot — which means this Rhône-style blend from Andrew Rich gets slept on. It's a winemaker known for careful work with Southern Rhône varieties in Oregon, and at $14 a glass, it's the most interesting thing on the by-the-glass list by a mile.
Hirsch Vineyards San Andreas Fault Pinot Noir 2018
Hirsch is a great Sonoma Coast producer and the wine deserves respect — but $152 at a craft bar in Vancouver, WA is a tough sell when the context doesn't match the ambition. Save this one for a restaurant with the glassware and service to do it justice.
Boedecker Cellars Athena Pinot Noir 2015 + Roasted or braised meat dish
The Athena from Boedecker is a structured, age-worthy Willamette Pinot with the kind of savory depth that wants something with some weight behind it. A roasted or braised meat from the New American kitchen here gives it the friction it needs to shine — and the 2015 vintage has had time to settle into something special.
The Bottom Line
The Hammond isn't a destination wine list, but it punches above its weight for a craft bar — especially if you love Pacific Northwest reds. Send a friend here, point them toward the Oregon section, and tell them to skip the cocktails.

Uptown Barrel Room isn't trying to be a destination wine list, and it doesn't need to be — it's a solid neighborhood wine bar with fair prices, good enough options, and the rare commitment to making everything available by the glass. Send a friend here for a casual weeknight pour without hesitation.

Tommy O's wine list isn't going to make you cancel your dinner reservation somewhere else, but it's an honest, no-nonsense selection that covers the basics at what appears to be reasonable prices. Send your friends here for the food and a decent pour — just don't expect to geek out over the list.

Six Shooter is a Wild Card in the best sense — a rural estate bar where the wine list is short because they're making most of it themselves. If you want depth and variety, look elsewhere; if you want to drink local wine where it was grown, this is the move.

Elements is a better wine list than its size suggests, with a genuinely curious regional spread and a Thursday bottle special that makes the steep markups temporarily irrelevant. Show up on a Thursday, order the Mercer Grenache or the Alain Voge, and you're having a very good night in a city that doesn't always get credit for it.

Coyote Bar & Grill isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't pretend to be one either — fair prices, decent Pacific Northwest representation, and a comfortable room make it a perfectly reasonable place to drink well enough. Send a friend here if they're already going for the food; don't send them here just for the wine.

Maryhill Vancouver is a genuinely good reason to detour into Washington wine country without leaving the city limits — the Klipsun Cab alone justifies a visit. It's not trying to be a destination wine bar, but it earns its place as the best pour on the Vancouver waterfront.

Tavern in the Village isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the all-by-the-glass format, fair pricing, and a handful of genuinely good picks — Picpoul, Sancerre, Riesling — make it more than worth a glass or two. Send a friend here knowing they won't get gouged, even if they won't get their mind blown.

For Columbus, Georgia, The Animal Farm's wine list is a genuine Wild Card — small but considered, fairly priced, and stocked with producers most local restaurants haven't heard of. We'd absolutely send a friend here with instructions to start with the Riesling and work their way through the whites.

La Jolla isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's putting in more effort than most restaurants in Montgomery. Fair prices, a surprising Loire pick hiding in plain sight, and enough glass options to keep the table happy all night.
