You walk into a cozy mountain bakery expecting coffee and a croissant, and then you notice there's a short but genuinely considered wine list staring back at you. Eight labels, all available by the glass, anchored heavily by Colorado producers — not what you see coming. It's a low-key move that earns some real respect.
The list is tight — eight bottles, full stop — but the curation here punches above its weight class for a café. Three labels from Sutcliffe Vineyards out of Cortez, CO do the heavy lifting: a house red blend, a Merlot, and a Rosé, representing one of Colorado's more serious wine regions. The Ontanon Rioja (organic) from Spain adds an old-world anchor, while Scarpetta's Friulian Prosecco and Pinot Grigio bring some Italian polish. The Buckel Family Sauvignon Blanc rounds out the Colorado contingent, and Peirano Estate Chardonnay from Lodi fills the crowd-pleaser slot. It's not deep, but whoever built this list was paying attention.
Every bottle on the list is available by the glass, which is the right call for a casual café where you're probably not ordering a full bottle with your sandwich. Pours run $8–$11, which is genuinely refreshing in a resort town where ski lodge markups are the norm. The range covers sparkling, white, rosé, and red — no gaps for what this room needs.
Ontanon Rioja (organic) — $8/glass, $22/bottle
Organic Rioja at $8 a glass in Telluride is almost aggressively fair. This is the kind of wine you'd expect to see at $14 a pour at any mountain resort spot, and it's the easiest yes on the list.
Buckel Family Wine Sauvignon Blanc
Most people will walk right past a Colorado Sauvignon Blanc without a second look, but Buckel Family out of Cortez is doing something genuinely interesting with this grape at altitude. Worth the detour from your usual habits.
Scarpetta Pinot Grigio
At $11/glass and $40/bottle, this is the one moment where the list loses the plot. Scarpetta makes a fine Pinot Grigio, but it's widely available and retails well under what that bottle price implies — especially when the Ontanon Rioja is sitting right there at $22.
Sutcliffe Vineyard Butcher Baker Red Blend + Seasonal Sandwich
A house red blend named after the restaurant paired with whatever's on the seasonal sandwich board is exactly the kind of no-brainer we'd order without overthinking it. The blend has enough structure to stand up to charcuterie or a hearty meat-forward sandwich without overwhelming the build.

This is a bakery café that quietly outclasses half the wine lists in Telluride's actual restaurants — fair prices, local producers, and a clear point of view in just eight bottles. If you're in town and want something honest to drink with lunch, this is the move.
