Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Summit Grill reads like a greatest hits of Napa cab — Caymus, Silver Oak, Far Niente all accounted for. It's a crowd-pleasing lineup with zero surprises, but solid execution for a neighborhood grill in Overland Park. If you know what you like and it's California red, you'll be comfortable here.
Fifty-two labels lean hard into California, with Napa Valley dominating the reds and Sonoma doing backup duty. There's a single nod to Tuscany with the MastroJanni Brunello di Montalcino 2015, which is genuinely interesting and earns points on its own. Don't come looking for Burgundy, Rhône, or anything from the Southern Hemisphere — this list doesn't go there. The upside is that the California producers are legit: Nickel & Nickel, Belle Glos, Twomey Merlot — not filler brands, even if the overall scope is narrow.
Seventeen by-the-glass options is a strong count for a casual grill, and social posts reference pours starting around $7, which is refreshingly honest pricing at the entry level. The glass menu skews predictably toward approachable California varietals, but the volume gives you room to explore without committing to a bottle.
Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014 — $74
On a Monday, this comes down to around $37 — for Silver Oak Napa, that's a flat-out steal. Show up on half-price wine night and this is the move.
MastroJanni Brunello di Montalcino 2015
It's the lone Italian on a list that's otherwise all California, all the time. Brunello from a serious Montalcino producer in a neighborhood bar is unexpected, and most tables here will walk right past it for the Caymus. Don't be most tables.
Meiomi Pinot Noir Monterey/Sonoma/Santa Barbara
At $36 a bottle, you're paying restaurant prices for a wine that retails under $15 at any grocery store. It's a perfectly drinkable mass-market blend, but the markup is unjustifiable when better options are within reach.
Belle Glos Pinot Noir Las Alturas 2018 + Grilled Salmon
Las Alturas is a cold-climate Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot — bright acid, dark cherry, earthy edge. Against a grilled salmon with any kind of char or herb crust, it threads the needle between red wine boldness and fish-friendly freshness without bullying the plate.
Monday — Half-price bottles all day on wines priced under $100 (some posts say under $60 — confirm on arrival). Dine-in only with a minimum $4 beverage purchase required.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Summit Grill isn't a wine destination, but it's a solid neighborhood spot that earns its keep — especially on Mondays, when the half-price bottle program turns a steep list into a genuinely good deal. Come with a California palate and a plan to be here before Tuesday.
I-435 & Metcalf / South Overland Park · Overland Park · Upscale Steakhouse
Ruth's Chris Overland Park delivers exactly what it promises: a big, well-managed wine list staffed by people who know it, served in proper glassware at prices that will make you wince. Send a friend here for a business dinner or a celebration, but tell them to stick to the mid-tier California reds and leave the prestige bottles for someone else's tab.

Central Overland Park · Overland Park · Italian
Garozzo's isn't a wine destination, but it's a reliable Italian dinner with a list that won't embarrass you — especially if you show up on a Sunday. Half-price bottles up to $100 is a legitimate deal, and for a neighborhood Italian that's been around long enough to bottle its own Chianti, there's more to like here than the list length suggests.

The Cheesecake Factory's wine list exists to reduce friction, not create excitement — it's a corporate safety net dressed up as a wine program. Order the Decoy, enjoy your Chicken Madeira, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that actually wants it.

Tavern at Mission Farms is a reliable neighborhood wine list — nothing that'll move you, but Wednesday half-price bottles flip the math entirely and make this worth a weekly habit. Come for the deal, not the depth.

Spin! Pizza is a perfectly fine place to eat pizza; the wine list is an afterthought that exists because restaurants need wine lists. Come on a Monday, order a bottle of Gnarly Head at half-price, and make peace with what this is.
