Wingman Metrics
147 labels sounds impressive until you start reading the names — this is a greatest hits album of grocery store darlings and airport lounge Champagne. STK is selling an experience, and the wine list exists to support that vibe, not to challenge anyone's palate. You know exactly what you're getting before you even sit down.
The list leans hard on California Chardonnay and Cabernet, which is on-brand for a steakhouse but reads more like a restaurant that designed its wine program around name recognition than any genuine curation. You've got Rombauer and Sonoma-Cutrer on the white side, Bonanza and Decoy doing the heavy lifting for reds — all reliable, none of them interesting. There's a token Eroica Riesling and a couple of Provence rosés thrown in to suggest range, but the bones of this list are as safe as it gets. Old World depth? Essentially absent. If you came here hoping to find a grower Champagne or a Willamette Pinot, keep walking.
Three by-the-glass options at $9 is the most alarming detail on this entire list — at a Chicago steakhouse with entrees that presumably clear $50, that pour count is almost comically thin. We couldn't confirm which three wines are actually being poured by the glass, which makes ordering a glass here feel like a minor gamble. If you're not going bottles, you're essentially choosing blind.
The Bottom Line
STK Chicago is here to sell you a night out, and the wine list is just part of the set dressing. If you care about what's in your glass, eat here for the steak and order water.

La Grande Boucherie Chicago is a reliable wine destination for anyone who wants a French-focused list executed with genuine effort and the occasional smart value. The markups aren't shy, but the BTG program and specials take some of the sting out — go in with a plan and you'll drink well.
