STK Charlotte walks in with 144 labels and immediately wants you to be impressed. Then you start reading and realize you've seen this list before — at the airport, at the hotel bar, at the last chain steakhouse you visited. It's not a wine list so much as a greatest hits album from the grocery store top shelf.
The list leans hard on name recognition over actual quality of selection. Rombauer Chardonnay, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, Whispering Angel Rosé, Decoy Cabernet — these are wines people order because they've heard of them, not because someone on staff got excited and put them there. There's no meaningful old-world presence, no interesting regional depth, and no sense that anyone curated this with curiosity. Bubbles are anchored by Veuve Clicquot and Moët, which is fine for bottle service culture but tells you everything about who STK is really serving.
One by-the-glass option at $9 is not a wine program — it's a placeholder. A 144-label list that surfaces exactly one pour by the glass is either a data gap or a genuine failing, and neither reflects well on the operation. If you're hoping to explore the list without committing to a bottle, you're basically out of luck.
Bonanza by Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon — null
If you're eating a steak and need a Cab that won't embarrass anyone, Bonanza is Chuck Wagner's value play and typically the most honest bottle in a list like this — big, approachable, and priced below the prestige labels surrounding it.
Eroica Riesling
Nobody at a steakhouse orders Riesling, which is exactly why you should. The Eroica is a Chateau Ste. Michelle and Dr. Loosen collaboration — serious Washington State Riesling with real acidity that cuts through a butter-basted ribeye better than most of the Chardonnays on this list.
Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence Rosé
You're paying for the pink bottle and the Instagram moment. Whispering Angel is a fine rosé, but at steakhouse markup it's a significant overpay for something that tops out at 'pretty good beach wine.' Save that spend for the bottle of red.
Twomey by Silver Oak Sauvignon Blanc + Lobster or seafood starter
Twomey is Silver Oak's cooler, more restrained sibling — structured enough to hold up to a rich seafood dish and interesting enough to make the pairing feel intentional rather than accidental.
The Bottom Line
STK Charlotte is a party venue with a wine list to match — familiar, expensive, and built for people who order by brand recognition. If you're serious about what's in your glass, you'll be working against the room all night.

The seven wines on record are all from a single event page, so the full list is almost certainly broader; but until we have more to work with, our honest advice is to know what you want before you sit down, because the list isn't going to inspire you.
