Wingman Metrics
The wine list at State Street Wine Company fits on a cocktail napkin — and we mean that literally. Three labels: a Merlot, a Sauvignon Blanc, and a Summer Rosé. For a place with 'Wine Company' in the name, that's a bold statement of minimalism.
With just three bottles on offer, there's no regional depth to analyze, no producer story to tell, and no discovery to be had. The list reads like a placeholder that never got replaced — a Merlot, a Sauvignon Blanc, and a seasonal Rosé cover three bases but leave everything else entirely unaddressed. There's no Old World presence, no variety beyond the obvious, and no indication that the selection is curated with any particular intent. Whether this is a soft launch situation or the permanent state of affairs, it's hard to call this a wine program with a straight face.
All three bottles are available by the glass, ranging from $8 to $9 — which is genuinely fair pricing if the bottles are decent. The problem isn't the price; it's that three options is a Tuesday-night tasting at a grocery store, not a wine bar experience.
The Bottom Line
We want to root for a place called State Street Wine Company, but three unlabeled wines at the entry level is not a wine program — it's a starting point that hasn't started yet. If the selection expands and the curation gets intentional, check back. For now, there are better wine bars in Greensboro worth your evening.
South Elm · Greensboro · Wine Bar & Retail
Tasting Room is the kind of wine bar Greensboro didn't know it needed — approachable enough for beginners, interesting enough for people who care, and free of the pretense that kills the fun. If you're in the area, skip the chain restaurant wine list and come here instead.

Friendly Center · Greensboro · Korean Fried Chicken and Asian Fusion
Bonchon Greensboro is a legitimately great spot for Korean fried chicken, and the wine list knows it's irrelevant. Come for the wings, drink the beer, and only touch the Canyon Road if it's $3 a glass.

P.F. Chang's Greensboro checks the box on wine the same way it checks every other corporate box — reliably, joylessly, and at a markup. If you're here for the food, stick to the Riesling and call it a night; the rest of the list isn't worth the deliberation.

West Wendover / West Greensboro · Greensboro · Casual American steakhouse with Australian-inspired theme
We wouldn't send a friend here for the wine — we'd tell them to order a beer or a cocktail and save their wine calories for somewhere that gives a damn. The food can be fine; the wine program is an afterthought.

Ruth's Chris Greensboro doesn't take risks with wine, and it doesn't need to — the list is professionally managed, properly stored, and staffed by someone who actually knows it. If you're celebrating a promotion, this works. Just don't expect to discover anything.

Westridge / Holden Road · Greensboro · Italian
Positano isn't trying to be a wine destination, but its Italian-focused list punches well above its neighborhood-restaurant weight class. Fair prices, real regional variety, and a few genuinely interesting picks make this worth ordering a bottle instead of just a cocktail.

Cork It punches above its weight for a Gainesville wine bar — fair prices, a huge by-the-glass list, and at least a few genuinely interesting picks hiding among the crowd-pleasers. If you're in town and want a real glass of wine rather than a rum bucket, this is where you go.
