The view from Stanley & Seafort's — sweeping panoramas of Tacoma's harbor and skyline — sets the tone before you even crack the wine list. When you do open it, you get exactly what you'd expect from a classic supper-club steakhouse: familiar names, domestic focus, and nothing that will make your heart race. That's fine. Not every dinner needs to be a wine adventure.
The list runs 40 to 60 labels and leans hard on California and Pacific Northwest, which makes geographic sense but limits the fun. Columbia Valley Cabernets anchor the red side, with a few Napa reserve selections for big spenders, and Willamette Valley Pinot Noir shows up to keep things regionally honest. Whites are largely California Chardonnay from recognizable commercial brands — nothing wrong there, but don't come looking for Chablis or Grüner. The list does its job for a room full of people ordering prime rib and filet mignon; it just doesn't go looking for extra credit.
Eight to twelve pours by the glass at $10 to $18 means you've got options without being overwhelmed. Italian Prosecco makes an appearance — a smart opening move for a seafood-leaning menu — and the Columbia Valley Cab predictably anchors the red side. The rotation doesn't appear to change dramatically, so don't expect seasonal surprises, but the range covers the table reasonably well.
Willamette Valley Pinot Noir — $38–$52
At the lower end of the bottle range, a solid Willamette Pinot is one of the few picks on this list that earns its keep. It's versatile enough to work with salmon and light enough not to bully a delicate dish — and it's the most interesting wine the list reliably offers.
Italian Prosecco (by the glass)
Most people in a steakhouse skip straight to the Cab, but this Prosecco is the quietly correct call at the start of a meal. It's priced modestly by the glass and works overtime with anything coming out of the ocean on this menu. Order it while you review the rest of the list.
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (reserve selections)
At a restaurant without a dedicated sommelier program and with no published reserve provenance, paying top-of-list prices for Napa reserve bottles is a leap of faith that rarely pays off. You're likely getting a recognizable label at a 3.5–4x markup. Save the reserve Cab budget for somewhere that treats it with more care.
Willamette Valley Pinot Noir + Cedar Plank Salmon
This is the pairing that actually makes sense on this menu. The cedar smoke on the salmon needs a wine with enough fruit to stand up to it but enough acidity to not overwhelm the fish — Willamette Pinot threads that needle cleanly in a way that a California Chardonnay or a Columbia Valley Cab simply doesn't.
Monday — Half-price bottles on Mondays — selection and exclusions vary; reserve bottles may not be included. Worth calling ahead to confirm current offerings.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Stanley & Seafort's isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't need to be — it's a classic Pacific Northwest steakhouse with a comfortable, crowd-pleasing list and one of the best Monday night deals in Tacoma. Come for the view, order the Pinot, and if you can swing a Monday reservation, that half-price bottle program makes the whole experience considerably easier to love.
Sixth Avenue · Tacoma · Mediterranean and Northwest-inspired, wood-fired grill
Primo Grill is doing more with its wine list than it gets credit for — especially in a city where 'solid restaurant wine program' often means a wall of Meiomi. It's not flashy, but the Pacific Northwest depth is real and the European picks show genuine curiosity. We'd send a friend here without hesitation.

Sixth Avenue · Tacoma · Argentinian-inspired wood-fired steakhouse and Latin cuisine
Asado is a reliable neighborhood wine pick for red meat lovers who want Argentine bottles done with some care and without getting gouged. It's not a wine destination, but it's a solid companion to one of Tacoma's better wood-fired kitchens.

Cuerno Bravo punches above its weight class on wine selection — the Mencía and Betz picks alone set it apart from your average steakhouse list — but the markups across the board are steep enough to sting. Come for the bottle you'd never order anywhere else; just don't expect restaurant-week pricing.

The Adriatic Grill is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that earns a loyal following by doing the right things quietly — a thoughtful wine list, fair pricing, and a Wine Wednesday program that is frankly one of the better deals in Tacoma. If you can get there on a Wednesday with a group and a hunger for lamb, you're having a great night.

Tacoma Mall · Tacoma · Brazilian Steakhouse (Churrascaria)
Texas de Brazil Tacoma is a terrific place to eat a lot of meat. It is not a place to drink interesting wine. The list is corporate, the markups are real, and the effort put into the wine program is a fraction of what goes into the gaucho service. Order strategically, go on a Thursday if that promo holds locally, and spend your wine dollars carefully.

El Gaucho Tacoma is a reliable wine destination if you know what to order and when to show up — Wednesday's half-price program changes the math considerably. The Argentine depth is the real story here; lean into Zuccardi and let the sommelier do their job.

Council Oak is a casino steakhouse wine list that punches above its context — deep enough to reward a curious drinker, but priced to remind you that the house always wins. Send a friend here if they're already coming for the steak; don't make a special trip just for the wine.
