Sorrento arrives with genuine ambition, organized into Italian-themed categories (Bollicine, Bianchi, Rossi) that signal they've actually thought about this. At $11 entry and a top of $25, the pricing is accessible enough that you won't need to overthink a second pour.
The Italian spine is legit: Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi, Mastroberardino Falanghina, Vietti Barbera d'Asti, and La Kiuva Nebbiolo give the list real credibility beyond the standard red-white-rosé playbook. That said, the list hedges toward crowd-pleasers on the edges — Caymus, Duckhorn Greenwing, and the Prisoner's Unshackled brand are comfort choices that say 'we know our regulars.' The Bordeaux representation is thin but the Château Bourbon La Chapelle Médoc is a competent pick at an honest price. A deeper dive into Southern Italian reds or Sicilian whites would elevate this from solid to special.
Twenty pours is ambitious and mostly well-executed here. Spanning Cava at $11 up to Moët at $25, the bubbles tier is legitimate, and the whites show real range — Sancerre, Falanghina, and Gavi sitting alongside Riesling and a Provence rosé. The reds roster hits familiar marks without being lazy about it, and the $13–$16 sweet spot across most pours makes experimentation low-risk.
Vietti Barbera d'Asti DOCG 2024 — $16/glass
Vietti is a Piedmont name that earns its reputation, and their Barbera consistently overdelivers for the price. Getting it by the glass at $16 — without the usual restaurant markup anxiety — is a genuine win. This is the move for anyone who says they don't know Italian wine but wants to start.
Mastroberardino Falanghina Irpinia DOC 2024
Most tables at an Italian restaurant will default to Pinot Grigio or Sancerre. Mastroberardino is one of Campania's benchmark producers, and their Falanghina is the kind of nervy, mineral-driven white that makes you reconsider every boring white wine decision you've ever made. It's sitting right there at $15 and most people will walk right past it.
Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon California 2023
At $25 a glass, Caymus is trading heavily on brand recognition — and while it's not a bad wine, it's a wine you can find anywhere and everywhere. In a list with actual Italian character and value, spending top dollar on the most ordered Cab in America feels like a wasted opportunity.
La Kiuva Nebbiolo 2025 + Pasta Bolognese
Nebbiolo's high acidity and firm tannins are built for rich, meat-driven ragù. La Kiuva is a Valle d'Aosta producer working with the grape at a lighter, more aromatic expression than Barolo — which means it plays nicely with pasta instead of overpowering it. Classic Italian logic, executed simply.

Sorrento is doing something genuinely worth paying attention to in a city not known for wine bars — a 20-glass list anchored in Italian producers, priced fairly, and accessible enough to drink through the whole menu. Send your wine-curious friends here; they'll leave more interested in Barbera and Falanghina than when they walked in.
