Wingman Metrics
You're tucked inside Farm Road Estate in the Vermont hills, and the wine list feels exactly like the room — warm, familiar, and not trying to be something it's not. It's a California-focused card that leans hard on names anyone who's ever been to a steakhouse will recognize. That's not a knock; it's just the lay of the land here.
The list runs 80-120 bottles and doesn't stray far from the California reservation. Stag's Leap, Jordan, Duckhorn, Cakebread, Rombauer — these are the headliners, and they show up reliably. There's no real exploration into Old World territory or anything that would make a wine nerd linger over the menu, but the producers they've chosen are genuinely solid, not just grocery-store filler. Wine Spectator has recognized them with an Award of Excellence since 2023, which tracks — the list is curated with intention, just not with adventurousness.
With 10-16 pours available, the by-the-glass program gives you a reasonable range to work with for a Vermont ski-country bar. Expect the usual suspects — Rombauer and Sonoma-Cutrer holding down the Chardonnay spots, Meiomi covering Pinot Noir for the crowd. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority, but what's there is competent.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon — $75
Jordan consistently punches above its retail price point, and in a ski-town restaurant context, finding it without a brutal markup makes it the smart order for a red wine night.
Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay
Most people reach for Rombauer on autopilot, but Sonoma-Cutrer's Russian River Ranches is the more restrained, food-friendly option — especially if you're having the cod.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
It's a $15 retail bottle that shows up on every list from here to Applebee's. There are better Pinot options on this list — don't let the name recognition pull you in.
Duckhorn Merlot + Cod
Duckhorn's Merlot is softer and fruit-forward enough that it doesn't steamroll a well-prepared fish dish — the wine's plush texture actually complements the flaky richness of cod without fighting it.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Sawmill Bar and Table is exactly what it needs to be: a reliable, California-forward wine list in a charming Vermont setting that won't embarrass you on a date or disappoint a casual wine drinker. Don't come here chasing discovery, but do come here knowing you'll drink well without getting gouged.
