Wingman Metrics
Eight wines, all available by the glass, priced between $10 and $12 a pour. This is not a wine destination — but it's not trying to be, and that honesty is worth something. You know exactly what you're getting before you sit down.
The list reads like a greatest hits of approachable grocery-store staples: Kono Sauv Blanc, La Marca Prosecco, J. Lohr Chard, Alamos Malbec, Dark Horse Cab. Nothing here is going to surprise you, and there's no deep regional dive into Mexican wine country or even an interesting outlier to reward the curious drinker. The Tussock Jumper Pinot Noir is the lone wild card — a French Pinot at a Mexican spot is mildly unexpected — though it's still very much a commercial crowd-pleaser. The gaps are real: no Tempranillo, no Grenache, no skin-contact anything, and the entire list fits on a napkin.
Everything on the list is available by the glass, which is genuinely useful when the list is this tight — no awkward bottle commitments. At $10–$12 a pour with bottles at $33–$34, the by-the-glass math actually works out fairly here, which isn't always the case. Tuesday changes the calculus entirely: half-price bottles all night makes this list look a lot more interesting when you're splitting a $17 bottle of Alamos over tacos.
Alamos Malbec — $33/bottle ($10/glass)
Retail on Alamos hovers around $10–$12 a bottle, so the markup is real, but it's not egregious for a restaurant pour. On Tuesday at $16.50 a bottle, it's genuinely hard to complain. Drinks bigger than its price tag and holds up against heavier dishes.
Tussock Jumper Pinot Noir
Nobody ordering margaritas is thinking about French Pinot Noir, which means this bottle often just sits there. At a casual Mexican spot, a lighter-bodied red with some earthiness can actually cut through rich mole or braised meat better than a heavy Cab. Worth a shot if you're in the mood for red and want something that isn't a wall of fruit.
Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark Horse is a $7 supermarket bottle. At $10 a glass or $33 a bottle, you're paying restaurant markup on something you can grab at the gas station on the way home. There's no shame in the wine itself, but the value case falls apart fast compared to the Malbec sitting right next to it.
Kono Sauvignon Blanc + Fish tacos
New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is all citrus and green herb — exactly what you want cutting through fried or grilled fish, crema, and whatever salsa situation is happening in the taco. It's a reflex pairing, but it's a reflex for a reason.
Tuesday — All bottles of wine are half-price all night on Tuesdays. Also pairs with an oyster happy hour from 5–7 PM with half-priced oysters.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Santa Fe Kingston isn't a wine bar and doesn't pretend to be — but the prices are fair, every bottle is available by the glass, and Tuesday's half-price wine night turns a perfectly ordinary list into a genuinely good deal. Go on Tuesday, order the Malbec, skip the Dark Horse.

Savona's is a reliable neighborhood Italian with a wine list that mostly stays in its lane — nothing offensive, nothing thrilling, and markups that sting a little on the familiar names. Come on a Wednesday when the bottles are half price, order the Millbrook Tocai Friulano, and you'll have a genuinely good night on the Rondout waterfront.
