First Impression
You don't expect to walk into a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence list on a Wisconsin main street, but here we are. Santé wears its ambition openly — this is clearly a place built around wine first, small plates second. The sophisticated-but-social vibe means it's not precious about it either, which is exactly the right call for a neighborhood like Neenah.
Selection Deep Dive
A list somewhere between 150 and 250 bottles anchored by France, California, and Italy is a sensible triangle — classic, crowd-friendly, and deep enough to reward the curious. The Wine Spectator credential since 2023 confirms this isn't a curated-sounding list that falls apart on inspection; there's real selection here. That said, we'd love to see some cracks in the armor — a Jura producer, a Canary Islands oddity, something that signals the buyer has range beyond the obvious triumvirate. Still, for the Fox River Valley, this list is genuinely impressive and punches well above its zip code.
By the Glass
Somewhere between 20 and 35 options by the glass is a serious commitment — most wine bars in cities twice this size don't bother. That kind of BTG depth means you can actually explore the list without committing to a bottle, which is the whole point of a wine bar. We just hope there's some rotation happening, because a static glass list at this volume starts to feel like wallpaper.

We don't have specific bottle names or prices from the current list to call a verified pick. We'd rather be honest than invent one. Ask your server what's drinking well under $60 — with a list this size and a fair markup posture, there's almost certainly a French regional or mid-tier California red worth your money.

Same caveat applies. On a France-California-Italy list of this depth, the Italian section is almost always where the sleepers live — regional whites or southern reds that nobody orders. Start there.

Without pricing data we can't name a specific overpriced bottle, but on any well-credentialed wine bar list, the famous Napa Cabernets are where markups quietly get aggressive. If you see a household-name Napa label at the top of the California reds, there's probably a better value two lines up.

We don't have confirmed dish names or specific wines from the current menu, so we're not going to fabricate a pairing. The small plates format is tailor-made for splitting a bottle of something with good acidity — ask the staff what's moving.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Santé is the kind of place that earns its Wine Spectator badge quietly — no flash, just a genuinely serious list dropped into a town that probably didn't see it coming. If you're anywhere near Neenah and care about what's in your glass, you owe this spot a visit.
