California-forward seafood wine list done right
Cherry Creek · Denver · American, Seafood

Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Salt Water Social reads like a greatest hits of California — Cakebread, Far Niente, Duckhorn, Jordan. It's not adventurous, but it's competent and curated with a clear point of view. For a seafood-forward spot in Cherry Creek, the California-heavy lean makes sense, and prices land in a range that won't make you choke on your lobster roll.
The 100-150 bottle list leans hard into California Chardonnay and Cabernet, with producers like Sonoma-Cutrer, Jordan, and Stag's Leap anchoring the lineup. There's no serious Old World presence to speak of — no Chablis, no white Burgundy, no Sancerre — which feels like a missed opportunity for a seafood restaurant. The Cabernet side is surprisingly robust for a spot that leads with scallops and lobster, though it makes sense given Denver's steak-adjacent dining culture. Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence since 2025 signals the list is at least being maintained with some care.
The by-the-glass program runs 12-20 options at $12-$18 a pour, which is reasonable for the Cherry Creek zip code. The real draw here is Wednesday's half-price wine night — that's when a $13 Sonoma-Cutrer glass becomes a very easy yes. Rotation isn't confirmed, but the range appears sufficient to cover the table through appetizers and mains.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay 2021 — $55
This is a genuinely solid Chardonnay from one of Sonoma's more reliable producers, and at $55 it's priced fairly for restaurant context. On a Wednesday half-price night, it's practically a steal by the glass.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Chardonnay 2022
At $42, this Washington State Chardonnay is the most affordable bottle on the list and consistently underestimated. It's clean, food-friendly, and exactly the kind of workhorse white that performs above its price tag at a seafood dinner.
Rombauer Chardonnay 2022
At $92 a bottle, you're paying a significant premium for a wine that retails widely around $35-$40. Rombauer is crowd-pleasing but it's also one of the most over-marked bottles in American restaurant dining. The Far Niente is a better splurge if you want to go big on Chardonnay.
Duckhorn Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc + Seared Scallops
Duckhorn's Sauvignon Blanc brings enough citrus brightness and herbal edge to cut through the richness of seared scallops without overwhelming them. It's the rare pairing on this list where the wine is actually built for the food.
Wednesday — Half-price wine on Wednesdays — applies to the wine list and makes an already fair-priced program genuinely compelling.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Salt Water Social plays it safe with wine but plays it well — California classics at fair prices, with a Wednesday half-price night that makes it a genuine weekly option. No one's discovering anything new here, but you won't be disappointed either.

Nocturne is a jazz club that moonlights as a serious wine destination — the combo shouldn't work this well, but it does. Tuesday half-price nights make this an easy recommendation; any other night, lean toward the Flowers or the Leroy and let the music do the rest.
