Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Ruffino's opens strong on bubbles — we counted over a dozen sparkling options before we even hit the whites. For Lafayette, Louisiana, that's a statement. This is a list that knows its audience: celebrators, steak lovers, and people who want a recognizable label without getting gouged.
Seventy-one labels is a respectable size for a steakhouse of this caliber, and the sparkling section is genuinely the standout — running from a $10 LaMarca Prosecco by the bottle all the way up to Louis Roederer Cristal at $400. The whites skew toward crowd-friendly territory: Riesling (including the solid Chateau Ste Michelle Eroica), Pine Ridge's chenin-viognier blend, and Ruffino Lumina Pinot Grigio covering the lighter end. Rosé fans have Whispering Angel and Oyster Bay to choose from, which is exactly what most tables will order and are priced accordingly. The list doesn't take many risks — you won't find anything obscure or producer-driven here — but it delivers competently on what it promises.
Twenty-six by-the-glass options is a generous pour program, with glass prices ranging from $9 to $25. The Arte Latino Brut Cava at $10/glass is a standout value entry point into the bubbles section, and the Chateau Ste Michelle Eroica Riesling at $12/glass gives you real quality for the price. The glass list appears to be a fixed menu rather than a rotating program, so don't expect seasonal surprises.
The Bottom Line
Ruffino's runs a reliable, crowd-pleasing wine program that punches above its market. The sparkling selection alone makes it worth a visit for celebration dinners, and the by-the-glass pricing is fair enough that you won't feel burned ordering two rounds. It's not a destination wine list, but it's the kind of program that doesn't let you down — and in Lafayette, that counts for something.

· Lafayette · Gulf Coast New American
Spoonbill shouldn't have a list this considered, and that's the best thing we can say about it. For a small wine program in Lafayette, the presence of Beaujolais Cru, a pet nat, and an orange wine signals real curation — not just a distributor's default order. Glass prices are honest, the bottle markups don't gouge, and you're almost certain to find something worth drinking. If you're eating here, skip the default Cabernet and explore the French side of the list.

Mazen Grill is the kind of place you can trust to have a drinkable bottle for a special occasion without having to coach your dining companions through anything unfamiliar. The markups sting a little and the list plays it safe, but the range is real and the execution is solid enough to keep us coming back.

Half Shell Lafayette isn't where you go to geek out on wine — it's where you go to eat great oysters with something cold and decent in your glass. For that, the list does exactly what it needs to do, and the pricing is fair enough that we're not holding a grudge.

Downtown / Jefferson St · Lafayette · New Orleans-inspired Southern American, cocktail lounge and jazz club
Whiskey & Vine is a genuinely great place to spend an evening — the vibe, the jazz, and the cocktails are all doing their jobs. But the wine list is riding those coattails hard, charging gouge-level markups on unremarkable bottles while a sommelier watches from the sideline. Order the cocktails, grab a $5 pour at happy hour, and save your wine ambitions for somewhere that respects them.

Bonefish Grill Lafayette isn't a wine destination, but it's not an embarrassment either — it's a reliable corporate list that plays defense, not offense. Order the Riesling, enjoy your fish, and don't overthink it.

Romacelli is a perfectly enjoyable neighborhood wine bar that punches above its weight on Wednesday nights and below it the rest of the week. Come for the food and the atmosphere — just make sure you're there on a Wednesday if wine is the point.
