Walking into R+D's bar, the wine list reads like a greatest hits of California — familiar labels, approachable prices, zero intimidation factor. For Yountville, that's actually a deliberate move: this place isn't trying to out-cellar French Laundry, it's trying to get you a solid glass while you wait for a pizza. The list is tight, unpretentious, and pretty honest about what it is.
The list leans heavily California, with Napa holding down the anchor and a few supporting characters from Paso Robles and Anderson Valley filling out the range. You're getting recognizable names — Austin Hope, The Prisoner, Etude, Emmolo — which tells you everything about the target audience: wine-curious diners who want confidence, not a seminar. There's a lone international entry in the Decero Agrelo Malbec from Mendoza, which feels more like a token global gesture than a committed worldview. Gaps in white wine depth and zero old-world presence are real, but this is a bar list, not a cellar program.
With 10–16 pours available by the glass and prices landing between $15 and $18, the BTG program is one of the more accessible you'll find in a town where a glass of Cab can easily run $25+. The Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs showing up on a bar list is a nice touch — a proper California sparkling wine that earns its spot. Rotation appears minimal, so don't expect seasonal surprises.

Anderson Valley Pinot at this price point in Yountville is a genuine deal — Walt makes a food-friendly, cool-climate expression that over-delivers for what you're paying at a bar pour.

Most people at this bar are reaching for The Prisoner or Austin Hope by reflex. Mi Sueño is a Napa Cab with a real story — founded by a former immigrant vineyard worker turned winemaker — and it drinks with more complexity than its bar-menu placement suggests.

It's everywhere, it's fine, and it's exactly what it is: a reliable crowd-pleaser that's been mass-marketed into every casual wine list in America. Nothing wrong with it, but you're in Yountville — you can do better with what else is on this list.
Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs, North Coast + Lobster Roll
Crisp California bubbly and a cold lobster roll is a no-brainer — the acidity cuts through the mayo, the effervescence keeps the seafood brightness alive, and you'll feel appropriately smug about your life choices.

R+D's bar list isn't trying to be a destination wine program and it doesn't pretend to be — it's a well-executed, fairly priced casual list that punches above its weight for a Hillstone concept sitting in the heart of wine country. Send a friend here if they want good wine without homework.

The Restaurant at North Block sits in one of the most wine-rich corridors on the planet, and somehow managed to put together a list that maxes out at four pours. The prices are fair, but the effort is not. Come for the food, order a glass of the Vetriccie Rosé, and make peace with the fact that the wine program simply isn't part of the draw here.

RH Yountville is a genuinely beautiful place to drink wine — the room earns that much on atmosphere alone, and the California-forward list will keep most guests happy without any friction. But in Yountville, where the competition includes some of the most serious wine programs in the country, 'happy without friction' isn't the same as memorable. Go for the experience, order confidently by region, and don't expect the list to surprise you.
