Cold beer energy, decent wine for the price

The wine list at PUBlic House is exactly what you'd expect walking into a casual Old Town pub — short, familiar, and built for people who want a glass of something red with their burger without overthinking it. There's no pretension here, which is either refreshing or deflating depending on what you came for. Fourteen labels, all available by the glass, zero surprises.
California dominates, with a few nods to Washington State and New Zealand rounding out the edges. The producers skew heavily commercial — 19 Crimes shows up twice, Bonanza and Spellbound are doing their thing, and Bogel Old Vine Zinfandel is the most interesting name on the list without being remotely obscure. The genuine bright spots are Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir and B. Leighton Gratitude Red Blend, both of which suggest someone, at some point, was paying mild attention. Don't expect any deep cuts from Temecula's own wine country, which is a conspicuous miss for a restaurant sitting in its backyard.
All 14 bottles pour by the glass, which is generous and practical for a pub crowd that wants flexibility. Prices run $12–$16 a glass, which is honest money for this caliber of wine in a tourist-adjacent neighborhood. The Substance Pinot Noir at $14 a glass looks particularly reasonable given the bottle price.
Substance Pinot Noir — $14/glass, $30/bottle
At $30 a bottle, this is the most drinkable option on the list at the lowest bottle price. Order the bottle, share it, feel like you made a smart decision.
B. Leighton Gratitude Red Blend
A Washington State red blend from a winemaker with serious pedigree — Barnard Griffin and K Vintners in his background. Most people at this bar are ordering 19 Crimes on autopilot and missing the most interesting pour on the list.
19 Crimes Red Blend
At $44 a bottle, this is the most expensive wine on the list and one of the least exciting. It's a mass-market brand built on marketing, not craft — and you're paying a premium for the privilege of drinking it here.
Bogel Old Vine Zinfandel + Burgers
Old vine Zin has the fruit weight and pepper backbone to stand up to a juicy, char-edged pub burger without getting lost in the fat. It's a no-brainer match that neither the kitchen nor the guest needs to think twice about.
✔️ The Bottom Line
PUBlic House isn't a wine destination, and it's not trying to be — but the pricing is fair, the pours are available across the board, and a couple of genuinely decent bottles hide among the crowd-pleasers. Come for the pub food, drink the Substance Pinot or the B. Leighton, and call it a win.

Great Oak is a reliable, well-run resort steakhouse wine program — the sommelier presence and proper storage elevate it above the casino norm, but steep markups and a brand-name-heavy list keep it from being anything more than a very comfortable choice. Send a friend here if they want a guaranteed-good bottle of California Cab with a great steak; steer them elsewhere if they're looking for discovery.

Avensole's restaurant is a committed estate-only experience, and if you go in knowing that, it delivers — fair pricing, a smart flight format, and some genuinely interesting bottles you won't find anywhere else. Just don't show up hoping for a diverse wine list; this is a one-winery show, and you're either in or you're not.

If you're spending a day in Temecula wine country, Mama's Kitchen gives you a legit reason to sit down, eat something real, and drink through the estate range without getting gouged. It's not a destination wine list in the traditional sense, but the fair pricing and the genuine curiosity shown in the grape selection make it well worth the stop.

Café Champagne is a lovely place to drink Temecula wine if you're already in Temecula — the sparkling program is the real draw and the estate-only format at least has a clear point of view. Just don't show up expecting a deep, exploratory list; this is winery dining, not a wine destination in the broader sense.

Vindemia is a Wild Card in the truest sense: a tiny estate list, fair glass prices, a hillside setting, and a Wednesday deal that should be on more people's calendars. Show up on a weekday, order the Zinfandel Riserva, and let the food truck handle the rest.

Danza del Sol isn't trying to be a destination wine list — it's a winery that pours its own stuff on a dog-friendly patio, and in that context it mostly delivers. If you're already in Temecula wine country and you want somewhere to land for an hour with a board and a glass of local Tempranillo, this is a solid call.
