First Impression
Walking into Parlour beneath The Hewing Hotel, the wine list feels like it was put together by someone who actually drinks wine — not just someone who needed to fill a page. It's not going to blow any minds, but the range is respectable for a bar that's clearly more famous for its cocktails. France, California, New Zealand, Italy, Argentina, Spain — all the usual suspects, but assembled with some intention.
Selection Deep Dive
The list runs 50-100 bottles, covering enough ground to keep most tables happy without getting adventurous. California gets the lion's share of attention — ZD Chardonnay and DAOU Cabernet anchor the domestic side — while Taittinger Cuvée Prestige and Dom Pérignon give the Champagne section some legitimate credibility. Cloudy Bay represents New Zealand with its usual reliability. There are no deep cuts or obscure producers here, but the floor is consistently solid and there's nothing embarrassing on the list.
By the Glass
Ten to sixteen options by the glass is a decent spread for a bar program, and the entry price point of $9 is genuinely fair for Minneapolis. The Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, and Rosé all land at $9/glass — and with retail markups in the 22-67% range, these are some of the most honestly priced pours you'll find downtown. The top of the glass menu reaches $36, which is where the Champagne presumably lives.
Rosé Trevenezie Cavit Collection 2018 — $9/glass
A $11 retail bottle poured for $9 a glass is practically giving it away. Light, easy drinking, and the kind of pour you order twice without thinking about it.
ZD Chardonnay
ZD is a Napa stalwart that consistently punches above its price point, and most people at a cocktail-forward bar like this walk right past it. If you're a Chardonnay drinker, don't.
Dom Pérignon Brut
Dom Pérignon at a hotel bar is going to come with a hotel bar premium attached. Unless someone else is paying, there are better bottles on this list that won't make your credit card cry.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc + Beef tartare
Cloudy Bay's bright acidity and grassy citrus edge cut straight through the richness of a well-made tartare. It's a classic combo that holds up every time.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Parlour is a reliable, well-priced wine stop in a city where hotel bar wine lists can get lazy fast. It's not a destination for wine geeks, but if you're already there for the Parlour Burger and want a solid glass without getting gouged, you're in good hands.
