Wingman Metrics
The wine list at PaneVino North lands squarely in crowd-pleaser territory — Rombauer, Caymus Family Quilt, Flowers — names that sell themselves without much effort from anyone behind the bar. It's a list built for a suburban steakhouse crowd that wants something recognizable, and on that front, it delivers. Flip a little deeper, though, and a couple of interesting outliers start to peek through.
Fifty-five labels is a respectable number for a neighborhood Italian concept, and the whites are actually the more interesting side of the ledger. You've got the Sancerre from Dom Chezatte at $68/bottle sitting alongside an Abruzzo Pecorino and a Willamette Valley Riesling — not exactly items you expect to find in Plano. The red side is leaner, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles and Napa with very little in the way of Italian reds despite the restaurant's Italian identity. The bubbles section leans heavily on Prosecco and Moët, which is fine but unremarkable.
Twenty-six by-the-glass options is genuinely strong for a place this size, and the $12–$22 range keeps things accessible. Several of the better bottles — including the Sancerre, the Caymus Family Quilt, and the Minuty Rosé — are available by the glass, which means you're not stuck pouring from the bottom of the list all night. That said, there's no evidence of regular rotation or a curated pour program keeping things fresh.
The Bottom Line
PaneVino North isn't trying to reinvent the wine list, and it doesn't need to — this is a solid, fairly priced selection for a suburban Italian steakhouse, with a surprisingly deep by-the-glass program and a few smart white wine picks that reward the curious. If you're looking for natural wine or a deep Italian cellar to match the kitchen's roots, you'll come up short. But if you want a reliable pour at a fair price on a Friday night in Plano, this list won't let you down.

Grimaldi's wine list is exactly what it needs to be for a pizzeria — recognizable, inoffensive, and Italian-leaning enough to feel intentional. Just don't expect anyone behind the counter to guide you through it, and steer clear of the California crowd-pleasers when the Tuscans are right there.

Half Shells isn't trying to be a wine destination, and the list knows it — but the seafood-friendly whites, honest pricing, and full by-the-glass program make it a perfectly decent place to drink if you're eating there anyway. Order the Albariño or the Vouvray, skip the Cakebread, and you'll be fine.

Palato is doing more with wine than anyone in its neighborhood is giving it credit for — the Enomatic system, the Italian label selection, and fair-to-reasonable pricing make this a genuine find in the Plano dining scene. If you're going for Italian food in the suburbs, this is where you want to drink.

Lombardi is a reliable dinner destination where the wine list does its job without embarrassing itself — or impressing you. Come for the handmade pasta and the room; just don't expect the list to steal the show.

Corner Wines is a small list doing big things, especially if Greek varietals are your thing or you've been wanting to get into them. The value is real, the curation is genuine, and in Plano of all places, that earns some serious points.

Flamant is a genuinely nice place to drink wine in Plano — the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting, and the Iberian-French focus is a smart identity to build around. The list just needs more courage and more transparency to fully match the room.
