First Impression

You walk into One10 expecting a safe suburban Italian steakhouse wine list โ€” you know the type โ€” and then the list lands on the table and it's actually 300-plus bottles deep with Sassicaia, Opus One, and Gaja Barolo sharing space with your approachable Jordan Cab. It's a serious document for a Melville zip code. Wine Spectator handed them a Best of Award of Excellence in 2024, and scanning the list, it's clear they earned it.

Selection Deep Dive

The California and Italy axis is strong and purposeful: Super Tuscans run deep with Tignanello, Ornellaia, and Antinori all present, while Barolo coverage from Gaja and Ceretto gives the Italian side some real credibility. Brunello di Montalcino shows up via Banfi and Altesino, which rounds out the Tuscan story nicely. California is heavy on the cult-adjacent crowd-pleasers โ€” Caymus, Silver Oak, Duckhorn, Rombauer โ€” but Opus One and Far Niente give it a legitimate top shelf. France gets a nod with Chateau Margaux on the premium end, though it reads more like a prestige anchor than a deep exploration of the region.

By the Glass

With 20-35 options by the glass, there's enough rotation to make a meal out of pours alone, which is genuinely rare for Long Island. The selection skews toward accessible California and Italian crowd favorites rather than anything adventurous, but that matches the room. Quality control on by-the-glass programs lives or dies by storage, and the wine program here appears to take that seriously.

๐Ÿ’ฐBest Value

Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon โ€” $60

Jordan reliably overdelivers for what it costs at retail, and on a list where bottles escalate fast toward Opus One territory, this Alexander Valley Cab is the smart play โ€” structured, food-friendly, and won't make your credit card flinch.

๐Ÿ’ŽHidden Gem

Altesino Brunello di Montalcino

Most tables at a place like this are reaching for Caymus or Silver Oak. Altesino is a Montalcino producer that's been doing it right for decades with less fanfare than Banfi, and their Brunello has the earthy complexity and long finish that makes it worth every minute of your evening.

โ›”Skip This

Rombauer Chardonnay

Rombauer is perfectly fine wine, but it shows up on every restaurant list in America at a markup that doesn't reflect what you're actually getting in the glass. At One10, with Italian-focused whites presumably available, there are better places to spend your Chardonnay budget.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธPerfect Pairing

Tignanello + Pasta Bolognese

Tignanello's Sangiovese-Cabernet blend was basically built for braised meat and rich tomato โ€” it has the acidity to cut through and the structure to match the weight. This is the classic combo for a reason, and One10 gives you both on the same menu.

๐ŸŽฒ The Bottom Line

One10 is punching well above its suburban Long Island expectations with a wine list that earns its Wine Spectator recognition โ€” the depth is real, the top-end collectibles are legit, and there's something here for every budget above entry level. Markups run steep as you climb toward the prestige bottles, so stay sharp on your picks and this is a genuinely satisfying wine dinner.
