Wingman Metrics
You're in Yuma, Arizona β not exactly the first city that comes to mind when you think serious wine bar β and then you walk into Old Town Wine Cellar and find 300+ labels staring back at you. It's a gut-check moment. The list reads like someone genuinely loves wine, not like a restaurant that bolted a wine menu onto the side of a kitchen.
The list swings wide and mostly lands: domestic California heavy-hitters sit next to a 2012 Chateau Clarke Listrac-MΓ©doc, a Domaines Schlumberger Alsatian Riesling, and a Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano that has no business being on a wine bar menu in the desert at that price. Australia gets real representation beyond Yellow Tail β Mollydooker shows up in multiple expressions, and d'Arenberg's Hermit Crab is a legit pick. The gaps are in Burgundy depth and anything aged beyond the early 2010s, but at these prices, complaining feels ungrateful. Spain gets a nod via MarquΓ©s de Riscal Rioja Reserva; Italy checks in with Banfi Chianti Classico Riserva and Tommasi Ripasso β both crowd-pleasing but solid choices.
Fourteen pours by the glass is a respectable spread for a standalone wine bar, and the pricing is frankly absurd in the best way β multiple glasses coming in at $10 or under. The Coravin program means higher-end bottles get opened without dying, which is how you end up with access to wines that would otherwise require a full bottle commitment. Rotation details aren't published consistently, but the Instagram feed suggests the glass list does move around.
d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab 2021 β $10/glass
This Viognier-Marsanne blend from McLaren Vale retails around $20 a bottle β you're essentially getting it at cost per glass. It's aromatic, textured, and genuinely interesting. Drink two and you've still spent less than one mediocre glass at an airport.
Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2018
Most people in a wine bar will reach for a California Cab before they'll look at a Vino Nobile, which is their loss. Poliziano is a serious Tuscan producer, and the 2018 vintage was strong. At $12 a glass this is a straight-up steal for anyone willing to order slightly off-script.
Beringer Distinction Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Napa Valley
At $58.99 a bottle, Beringer's Distinction Series is the one spot on this list where the value math gets fuzzy. You can do better for that spend β the Robert Craig Affinity next to it at $72.99 is a meaningfully different wine. Beringer at this price point feels like a placeholder.
Tommasi Valpolicella Ripasso 2020 + Charcuterie Board
A Ripasso's dried-fruit richness and savory edge β it's essentially a baby Amarone β is built for cured meats and aged cheeses. At $12 a glass on a charcuterie night, this is the move.
π² The Bottom Line
Old Town Wine Cellar is the kind of place that makes you rethink what a small desert city can pull off β the list is genuinely deep, the prices are almost aggressively fair, and the Coravin program punches it up another level. If you're passing through Yuma or happen to live there, this is your spot.
South Yuma Β· Yuma Β· Southern / American
Cracker Barrel is not a wine destination and has made absolutely no effort to be one. Order the biscuits, maybe get a mimosa if the mood strikes, and save your wine curiosity for literally anywhere else.

Logan's Roadhouse isn't here for wine people, and the wine list makes no effort to pretend otherwise. Grab a La Vieille Ferme RosΓ© or an Underwood Pinot and set your expectations accordingly β this is a beer-and-bourbon room wearing a wine list as a formality.

Chili's Yuma is a place to drink a margarita and eat fajitas, and there is absolutely no shame in that. Just don't come here for the wine β order a cocktail, enjoy your ribs, and save the bottle of wine for somewhere that actually cares.

The wine list at Olive Garden Yuma is a placeholder, not a program β it checks the box without trying to do anything more. Order the Chianti, eat the breadsticks, and save your real wine curiosity for somewhere that shares it.

River City Grill is a genuinely good restaurant with a wine list that hasn't quite caught up to its kitchen. The pricing is steeper than it should be for these labels, but the all-glass availability and reasonable per-pour prices make it a comfortable enough spot to drink well if you know what to order.

J.T. Prime isn't trying to reinvent the steakhouse wine list β it's giving Yuma exactly what Yuma wants with a steak in front of it. Send a friend here if they want a reliable Cab with their ribeye; don't send them if they're hunting for something they haven't seen before.

The Wine Garden is the kind of place that makes you root for a neighborhood β Lakeland didn't need to have this, but we're glad it does. Markups hold it back from elite status, but the curation, the staff knowledge, and the overall commitment to small-production wine make it a genuine destination worth the detour.
