The wine list at North River Tavern fits on a napkin — and probably should stay there. Seven labels total, led by a parade of 'House House' generics and a single name-brand cameo from Kendall-Jackson. This is a beer bar that felt obligated to mention wine.
Six of the seven slots are occupied by House House wines across all the usual suspects — Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, White Zinfandel, Cabernet, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. The seventh is a Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay, which at this point is the 'adventurous' option. There are no regions worth discussing, no producers with a story, and no indication that anyone building this list gave it more than ten minutes. If you were hoping for something from the Old World, a natural producer, or even a recognizable American winery beyond KJ, you're going to be disappointed.

It's not a deep cellar, and no one is going to mistake it for a wine destination, but for a bottle of Eroica or a glass of Morgon while watching the Chattahoochee roll by, it earns its keep. Send your friends here and tell them to skip the Moët.

Mickey's Pub isn't a wine bar and doesn't pretend to be, but the Wednesday half-price bottle deal makes it genuinely worth a stop if you're already in the neighborhood. Stick to the Pacific Rim, skip the Conundrum, and enjoy the fact that you're drinking Columbia Valley Riesling in Yakima for next to nothing.
