Wingman Metrics
You walk into what you expect to be a cocktail-first bar in downtown Grand Junction and the wine list stops you cold β in a good way. Sixteen labels, all pours, and names like Giacomo Grimaldi and Salvard Cheverny staring back at you from a menu in western Colorado. This is not what we expected, and we mean that as a compliment.
For a cocktail lounge with 16 labels, Moody's punches well above its weight class. France and Italy anchor the list with genuinely interesting picks β a Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais 2023, a Salvard Cheverny Rouge 2023 (Loire Valley Gamay and Pinot Noir, largely ignored by most Americans), and a Gustav Lorentz Riesling 2018 from Alsace. California shows up with the Ancient Peaks Cab and Diatom Chardonnay, which are solid, recognizable choices without being lazy. The El Enemigo Malbec from Argentina rounds things out. It's not deep, but it's curated β someone made actual decisions here instead of just calling a Sysco rep.
Everything on the list is available by the glass, which is genuinely unusual and exactly right for a lounge format. Prices run $8 to $19 per glass, with most of the interesting stuff landing in the $13β$15 range. No rotating program we could find, which is a missed opportunity β a list this tight would benefit from a monthly refresh.
Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 β $13/glass
Ancient Peaks is a solid Central Coast producer making honest, food-friendly Cab at a fair price point. At $13 a glass in a lounge setting, you're getting more wine than the price suggests. It's the safe pick that's actually worth ordering.
Salvard Cheverny Rouge 2023
Most people skip anything they can't pronounce, which means this Loire Valley blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir just sits there waiting for someone to notice it. It's bright, low-alcohol, and interesting in a way that the Malbec and Cab crowd will never discover. Order it.
El Enemigo Malbec 2022
At $19 a glass or $76 a bottle, El Enemigo is the most expensive pour on the list and the hardest to justify. It's a fine Malbec, but you're paying a serious premium for the privilege. The Grimaldi Barbera or the Salvard give you more character for less money.
Giacomo Grimaldi Barbera D'Alba 2023 + Charcuterie Board
Barbera's high acidity and dark fruit cut right through cured meats and hard cheeses β it's basically built for a charcuterie spread. At $14 a glass it's not punishing your wallet either, which makes this the move for a long lounge session.
π² The Bottom Line
Moody's Lounge has no business having a wine list this interesting in a cocktail bar in Grand Junction, and we respect it. Markups are on the steeper side and there's no rotating program to keep things exciting, but the core selection shows real taste β and that counts for a lot out here.
Patterson Road / Medical Center Area Β· Grand Junction Β· Gastropub / American
Come for the beer β seriously, come for the beer. The wine list is eight grocery-store bottles propped up by a Wednesday half-price deal that's the only real argument for ordering wine here at all.

North Avenue Corridor Β· Grand Junction Β· Mexican
Tequila's is a solid neighborhood Mexican spot that simply doesn't care about wine, and that's fine β the margaritas are probably doing heavy lifting anyway. Come for the tacos, skip the wine list, and don't let the four Sutter Home options talk you out of a good time.

Downtown Grand Junction Β· Grand Junction Β· Irish and British-style pub fare
The Goat and Clover is a pub, full stop β the wine list exists to serve people who don't want a beer, not to inspire anyone. Come for the fish and chips and a pint, but if you need a glass of wine, the Alta Vista Malbec will get you through the night without regret.

Red Lobster's wine list is a chain afterthought with steep markups on brands you could grab at any gas station in Grand Junction. Skip the wine, order a cocktail, and save your wine budget for somewhere that actually tried.

Blue Moon is a fine neighborhood bar and an easy place to grab a glass of something cold after work β just don't come here expecting the wine list to match the charm of the room. Order the Alamos, enjoy the Greek food, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere else.

The Winery Restaurant is a reliable, well-meaning wine list that earns honest marks for spotlighting local Grand Valley producers and sneaking in a few Italian gems amid the Napa crowd. The markups can sting on the prestige bottles, but if you know where to look β and now you do β there's a genuinely good night of wine to be had here.
