Wingman Metrics
Fourteen bottles deep and somehow Marri's doesn't embarrass itself. At a pizza joint in Anaheim, we weren't expecting Le Ragose Ripasso sitting next to an organic Malbec from Domaine Bousquet — but here we are. The list is short, focused, and clearly assembled by someone who actually thought about it.
The Italian throughline is real: Becco Reale Pecorino and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Poggio Basso Primitivo, and two Le Ragose Valpolicellas — the Classic and the Ripasso — give the list genuine Italian bones. The Carmenet block (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cab) reads like crowd-pleaser filler, and it is, but it keeps the table happy without derailing the whole program. We'd love to see one Chianti or Sangiovese in here, but for 14 bottles, the Italian-to-everything-else ratio is better than most places twice this size.
No confirmed by-the-glass program is visible on the menu — what you see is a bottle list. That's a miss for solo diners or anyone who just wants a glass with their margherita without committing to a full bottle. If they'd crack open the Bivio Prosecco by the pour, we'd be happier.
Le Ragose Classic Valpolicella — $39
Le Ragose is a legitimate Valpolicella producer — this isn't supermarket Valpolicella. At $39, you're getting a wine with actual terroir and restraint, the kind of light-bodied, cherry-driven red that was basically made to drink with pizza. It's the best bang-for-buck on the list.
Becco Reale Pecorino
Most people at an Italian-American pizza place reach for the Pinot Grigio without thinking twice. The Becco Reale Pecorino at $43 is the smarter move — it's a fuller, more textured white from Abruzzo with actual personality. Skip the safe play, order this.
Gravel Bar Sauvignon
At $43, this is the most expensive white on the list and feels completely out of place here. A Sauvignon Blanc at that price point in a pizza restaurant setting is a hard sell when there are Italian whites doing more interesting things for less money.
Le Ragose Ripasso Valpolicella + Pepperoni Pizza
The Ripasso's extra richness and dried fruit depth from the amarone-grape refermentation stands up to the fat and salt of pepperoni without bulldozing the pizza underneath it. It's the move when you want something that feels like a proper Italian dinner, not just dinner.
The Bottom Line
Marri's punches above its weight for a pizza spot — the Italian selections are genuine, the prices are honest, and the list doesn't insult you. We'd send a friend here without hesitation, especially if they order the Valpolicella.

McCormick & Schmick's Anaheim won't impress anyone who thinks about wine for more than thirty seconds, but the prices are fair and the Wairau River is a legit pour. Order the Sauvignon Blanc, eat your seafood, and don't overthink it.

House of Blues Anaheim does a lot of things — live music, big crowds, Southern comfort food — and wine is clearly not one of them. Order the cocktail, enjoy the show, and save your serious bottle for somewhere that actually cares.

California Vintage is a genuinely fun concept — all-BTG everything, a solid California-forward list, and a format built for grazing and experimenting. Just watch the markups: the top half of this list gets expensive fast, and the value is almost entirely at the entry level.

Colony Wine Merchant is the Wild Card Anaheim didn't know it needed — a thoughtful, fairly priced list with genuine international reach tucked into a city better known for theme parks. If you're in the area and want a real glass of wine, this is the move.
