Wingman Metrics
You walk into what looks like a glorified après-ski bar — taxidermy, ski memorabilia, antlers everywhere — and then someone hands you a wine list with over 325 labels. The cognitive dissonance is real, and honestly, it's the best kind of surprise. This place has no business being this serious about wine, which is exactly why we love it.
The list punches well above its lodge-bar weight class, pulling from Chile, the Willamette Valley, Provence, and northern Italy with clear intentionality. The 2022 Holloran Vineyards Stafford Hill Pinot Noir from Willamette is a standout inclusion — this isn't a producer you typically find in a ski resort steakhouse. The local nod with the Gros Ventre White Blend shows some regional pride, and the Villa Varda Cab Franc from Friuli-Venezia Giulia signals that whoever built this list is paying attention to grapes beyond the obvious. Gaps exist — the list leans heavily toward approachable styles, and serious Burgundy or Barolo hunters may come up short — but for 325 labels in Teton Village, the depth is genuinely impressive.
With 15-25 options by the glass, there's enough rotation to keep things interesting across multiple visits or a long après-ski session. The Fleur de Mer Côtes de Provence Rosé is a smart pour — crowd-pleasing and properly chilled, which matters more than people admit. We'd like to see more adventurous pours by the glass to match what's deeper on the bottle list, but what's here is well-chosen.
2019 Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon, Valle de Colchagua — $40–50
Los Vascos is Lafite Rothschild's Chilean operation — serious pedigree, accessible price. At a mountain resort where markups can be punishing, this is a genuinely fair pour that overdelivers on the glass.
Villa Varda Cabernet Franc, Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Most people at a Wyoming steakhouse are reaching for the Cab Sauv. The Villa Varda Cab Franc from northeastern Italy is the move — more savory, more structured, less predictable, and exactly the kind of wine that makes a ribeye a full experience rather than just dinner.
Fleur de Mer Côtes de Provence Rosé
It's a fine wine, but at a resort price point you're paying a premium for one of the most widely distributed Provence rosés on the market. You can find this at a grocery store for a fraction of the tab — spend the extra dollars on the Holloran Pinot instead.
2022 Holloran Vineyards Stafford Hill Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley + Elk or Bison
Willamette Pinot has the acidity to cut through gamey richness and the red fruit to complement it without fighting. Pairing a Pacific Northwest Pinot with Rocky Mountain game is a regional tag-team that actually makes geographic sense — and it tastes like it, too.
🎲 The Bottom Line
The Mangy Moose is the best wine list you'll stumble into wearing ski boots, and that's not faint praise — it's a genuinely well-curated 325-label program run by a sommelier inside a building that looks like a hunting cabin exploded. Send your friends here, order the elk, and don't sleep on the Italian Cab Franc.
Jackson Town · Jackson Hole · Barbecue
Bubba's doesn't pretend to be a wine destination, and we respect the honesty — but the list is the definition of set-it-and-forget-it. Order a beer, enjoy the ribs, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that reciprocates.

Teton Village · Jackson Hole · Outdoor Bar
The Handle Bar is the kind of wine program that does exactly what it needs to do for its setting — no more, no less. You'll drink well here if you pick smart, but this isn't a destination for wine people so much as a very competent resort bar that happens to have Opus One on the list.

Downtown Jackson · Jackson Hole · Cafe / Bakery
Persephone isn't a wine destination, but it absolutely punches above its weight for what it is — a bakery-café with a genuinely thoughtful short list of natural pours at fair prices. If you're in Jackson and want a glass of something interesting without the steakhouse markup, this is your move.

Town of Jackson · Jackson Hole · French-Inspired Bistro
The Bistro earns its stripes as a reliable wine destination in Jackson Hole — the sommelier influence is visible, the European focus is coherent, and the list has depth worth exploring. Just go in knowing the markups are hotel-resort territory, and steer toward the Old World bottles where the curation is strongest.

East of Jackson · Jackson Hole · Steakhouse / Grill
The Grill at Spring Creek Ranch delivers a competent, crowd-pleasing wine list that matches the lodge aesthetic perfectly — reliable, a little expensive, and zero risk. If you're here for the views and the bison, you'll drink well enough; just don't come expecting the list to match the drama outside the window.

Town Square · Jackson Hole · Tapas / Wine Bar
Bin22 is the wine bar that has no business being this good in the middle of Wyoming ski country, and that's exactly why we're sending people here. If you're in Jackson Hole and you care about what's in your glass, this is the only address that matters.

North Carson · Carson City · American Steakhouse
Glen Eagles is a comfortable, classic Carson City steakhouse with a wine list that's essentially coasting — one strong Port section surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. Come for the prime rib, order a Port after, and don't expect much more from the wine side of the menu.

San Marcos · San Marcos · American Steakhouse
Outback San Marcos won't embarrass you if you order a glass with dinner, but you're not here for the wine list and nobody pretends otherwise. Stick to the Riesling or the Malbec and spend your energy on the steak.

East Side · Green Bay · American Steakhouse
LongHorn is a perfectly fine place to eat a steak in Green Bay — just don't expect the wine list to keep up with the kitchen. Order a cocktail, split a bottle of the Malbec if you must, and save the serious wine drinking for somewhere that cares.
