The wine list at MacKenzie River reads like it was assembled by someone who Googled 'safe California wines' and called it a day. Thirty-three labels sounds promising until you realize the list is basically the same handful of producers repeated across every varietal category. It's not offensive — it's just deeply uninspired.
The entire list leans hard on a small roster of California producers: EOS Estate, Rickshaw, Roth, Chalk Hill, Sebastiani, and Guenoc. That's it. No Pacific Northwest representation, which is a genuine miss for a Montana restaurant with easy access to some of the best value wines coming out of Washington and Oregon. The varietal spread covers the basics — Cab, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Moscato — but there's no depth, no surprises, and zero reason to explore beyond your comfort zone. A 33-bottle list that feels smaller than it is because the same names keep showing up.
By-the-glass specifics weren't available in our research, but given the list structure, expect the usual suspects poured from whatever's open. There's no sign of a rotating glass program or any real curation effort on this front. If you're going by the glass, Rickshaw Pinot Noir is probably your best bet at a pizza joint.
The Bottom Line
Come for the pizza, skip the wine list deep-dive — there's nothing here worth obsessing over. Order a beer or grab the Chalk Hill Chardonnay and move on.

The Keep is doing something quietly right in Missoula — a 70-label list with real Old World representation, fair by-the-glass prices, and enough depth to reward the curious drinker. It's not a destination wine program, but it's a genuinely solid one, and in this market, that counts for a lot.

Red Bird is the best wine option in Missoula by a comfortable margin, and the curation is genuinely impressive for its size and location. The markups are uneven enough to require some navigation, but if you stick to the Cristom and the Italian picks, you'll drink well without feeling robbed.
