Wingman Metrics
LuLu's is Lucy Buffett's beachfront tourist magnet — think frozen drinks, live music, and families straight off the sand. The wine list reads like it was written once in 2015 and nobody's looked at it since. This is a place where wine is an afterthought to the margarita machine.
The list skews heavily toward the safest possible picks: your Kendall-Jackson Chards, your Barefoot Pinot Grigio, maybe a token Napa Cab at $65 that costs $18 retail. There's no regional personality, no Gulf Coast tie-ins, nothing that suggests anyone in management cares about wine beyond checking a box. You'll find a handful of sparkling options for bachelorette parties and maybe one or two reds that could survive the humidity. Don't expect any depth beyond the first page.
The by-the-glass program is exactly what you'd expect: five whites, five reds, all poured into stemless tumblers that double as water glasses. Rotation is nonexistent — these are the same pours you'd get in February or August. The house white is probably something forgettable like Woodbridge, and the house red tastes like it's been open since Tuesday.
La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay — $42
Not exciting, but it's a recognizable producer that won't embarrass you with the raw oysters
J Vineyards Brut Rosé
If it's on the list, it's your best bet for something celebratory that won't break $50 and actually pairs with coastal food
Any 'Premium' Napa Cab over $70
You're paying 4x markup for a wine that's been sitting in a hot storage room since tourist season started
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc + Fried Shrimp Basket
The crisp acidity cuts through the grease, and both are crowd-pleasers that don't require thinking
❌ The Bottom Line
LuLu's is built for frozen drinks and beach vibes, not wine. If you're here, order a beer or a Bushwacker and save your wine budget for literally anywhere else in Alabama.

Big Beach Brewing does what it says on the tin: brewing. The wine program is an obligatory checkbox, not a passion project. Order a flight, enjoy the Gulf coast vibes, and save your wine drinking for literally anywhere else.

This isn't a conventional wine program, and that's the whole point. If you're curious about what Gulf Coast viticulture tastes like, Perdido delivers an honest, place-driven experience you won't find anywhere else.

Rouses isn't where you'd go for wine education or rare finds, but for beach vacation provisioning, it's more than competent. Fair prices, decent selection, and it beats the hell out of the hotel gift shop.

Crab Claw does what it does well — casual Gulf seafood in a beach town setting. But the wine program is neglected, overpriced, and shows zero effort. Order the crabs, drink the beer, save wine for literally anywhere else.

The Red Fish treats wine like a checkbox on a beach town restaurant checklist. Order a local beer instead and save your wine budget for a town that cares.
