Walking into Jazzboline, the energy hits before the wine list does โ it's loud, lively, and leaning into the fun. The list itself reads like a greatest hits album of California wine: recognizable names, crowd-pleasing labels, and not a lot of left-field choices. For suburban Amherst, though, this is a serious wine program, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence stamp since 2025 isn't handed out for nothing.
Selection Deep Dive
The list runs 200-350 bottles deep with a clear California obsession โ Napa Cab and Chardonnay are the anchors here. You'll find Jordan, Silver Oak, Stag's Leap, Duckhorn, Caymus, Cakebread, Rombauer, and Far Niente all represented, which means this is a list built to impress guests who know brand names rather than thrill the region-hopping adventurer. There's nothing wrong with that approach, but if you're hunting for Jura oddities or Willamette Valley Pinot, you'll be disappointed. The depth within California is genuine โ this isn't just a Caymus-and-Rombauer situation, it's a properly stocked California cellar with breadth across appellations and styles.
By the Glass
The by-the-glass program runs 20-35 options, which is genuinely generous for a restaurant of this type โ most spots this size offer a fraction of that. Prices land between $12 and $18 a glass, which is fair-to-steep depending on what you're pouring. We'd love to see more rotation and experimentation here, but the sheer number of options means you're unlikely to get stuck.

Jordan consistently delivers polished, food-friendly Cab that punches above its price. On a list stacked with Napa heavy hitters, Jordan tends to be the underdog in terms of markup โ order it before you reach for the Silver Oak.

Everyone's eyes go to Caymus or Silver Oak first, but Stag's Leap made Napa famous for a reason. It's more restrained and structured than its neighbors on this list โ and that elegance tends to get overlooked in a room that skews toward bold.
Rombauer Vineyards Chardonnay
Rombauer is fine wine. It's also everywhere, it's marked up aggressively almost universally, and the butter-bomb style will overpower most of what you're eating. At restaurant pricing, there's almost certainly better value on this same list.
Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot + Fried Oyster Mushrooms
Duckhorn Merlot brings enough plum richness and soft tannin to stand up to the earthy, crispy depth of fried mushrooms without steamrolling them. It's an easy, rewarding combo โ no drama, all payoff.
