Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Jaker's isn't trying to impress you — and honestly, that's fine. It reads like a well-curated greatest hits of Pacific Northwest and California staples, built for the steak-and-a-glass crowd rather than anyone hunting obscure growers. What you see is what you get, and what you get is competent.
The list leans hard on Washington State and California workhorses — Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest, Kendall-Jackson — with a nod to Idaho producers that feels genuine rather than obligatory. At 20-40 bottles, there's no cellar depth to brag about, but the selections make sense for the menu and the market. You won't find any Burgundy rabbit holes or skin-contact wildcards here. What you will find is a tight, approachable slate that won't embarrass anyone at a business dinner.
Eight to fourteen options by the glass at $8–$14 is a reasonable spread for Idaho Falls, and the pricing doesn't feel predatory. The glass program mirrors the bottle list — familiar names, no real surprises — but it covers the basics: a Chardonnay, a Cab, a Merlot. Don't expect rotation or seasonal additions; this list looks like it hasn't changed much since the menu was printed.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon — $12
Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of Washington's most reliable Cabernet producers, and getting it by the glass in this range is a fair deal. It's the kind of wine that handles a ribeye without flinching.
Idaho-produced wine (local producer selection)
Idaho wine gets overlooked everywhere, including Idaho. If Jaker's is pouring a local bottle, that's worth your curiosity — the Snake River Valley AVA punches above its weight on Syrah and Riesling, and supporting local here costs you almost nothing extra.
Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay
KJ Chardonnay is fine, but you can buy it at any grocery store for $14. Paying restaurant markup on something this ubiquitous is a tough sell when better value is sitting right next to it on the list.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon + Steak
Washington Cabernet and a properly cooked steak is one of the least complicated wine decisions you'll make all year. The dark fruit and firm structure in the Ste. Michelle hold up against char and fat without overthinking it.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Jaker's isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be one — it's a solid neighborhood steakhouse with a wine list that does exactly what it needs to do. Send a friend here confident they won't be gouged or confused, just fed and poured reasonably well.
Idaho Falls · Idaho Falls · Steakhouse / Seafood / American
Jakers isn't going to win any wine awards, but for a steakhouse in Idaho Falls it punches above its weight on value — especially during happy hour when half-price house wines make a pre-dinner glass genuinely hard to argue with. Send a friend here for a steak night and point them toward the Willamette Pinot or the Lan Crianza; they'll thank you.

Buffalo Wild Wings Idaho Falls is a perfectly fine place to watch a game and eat wings — just don't let the wine list anywhere near your evening. Order a beer, order a cocktail, order a second order of wings. The wine program is an afterthought and it shows in every bottle markup and unbranded house pour.

Junkyard Bistro's wine list is doing the bare minimum — recognizable names, steep markups on the top shelf, and nothing to make you put down your phone and pay attention. Drink the St. Chappelle, skip the Cakebread Cab at that price, and save your serious wine curiosity for somewhere that earns it.

The SnakeBite isn't a wine destination, but it's a Wild Card worth knowing about — a downtown burger joint that bothered to build a real wine list with fair prices and decent range. Come for the burgers, stay for the Pessimist.

Smokin Fins isn't a wine destination, but it's a competent one — the list is safe, a little overpriced, and built to please rather than impress. Order the Kim Crawford, eat the ahi tuna, and you'll leave happy enough.

This is the wine list equivalent of unlimited breadsticks — comforting, familiar, and not something you'd brag about to anyone. Come for the pasta, order a cocktail, or bring your own bottle if they'll let you.
