Wingman Metrics
A pub-adjacent steakhouse in Evansville, Indiana is not where you expect to find a 2010 Château Bertrand-Braneyre or Dominus 2019 sharing a menu with Nova Scotia sparkling wine. The list runs 68 labels and reads like someone actually cares — not like a corporate wine buyer just checked a box. This is the kind of list that makes you do a double-take.
The geographic reach here is genuinely impressive for a mid-market steakhouse in the Midwest. You get Greek Assyrtiko from Skouras, Canadian Riesling from Flat Rock Cellars, a Grechetto from Sergio Mottura in Lazio, a Côtes du Rhône from Domaine de Pegau, and a Napa valley Dominus — all on the same list. The sparkling section alone has more personality than most full wine programs in the region, with Benjamin Bridge from Nova Scotia and Entre Vinyes Funambul Cava alongside a proper Billecart-Salmon. There are gaps — the Italian reds could be deeper for a restaurant leaning into that identity, and the Coravin selection skews heavy and expensive — but the overall curation punches well above what you'd expect from the address. Someone with a point of view built this list.
Twenty-one by-the-glass options is a strong count, and the Coravin program opens up bottles like Domaine de Pegau Cuvée Réservée 2010 and Dominus 2019 by the glass — which is genuinely rare. Prices by the glass range from $14 to $168, so the range is wide enough to suit a casual weeknight pour or a splurge-by-the-stem occasion. The everyday glass options (Flat Rock Pinot Gris at $14, Chateau St. Jacques d'Albas rosé at $15) hold their own without asking you to commit to a bottle.
The Bottom Line
Jacobs Pub is a legitimate Wild Card — the kind of place where the wine list is doing more interesting work than the room might suggest. The Coravin program, the international range, and the reasonable everyday glass prices make it worth seeking out in Evansville. If you're eating here, skip the safe picks and use the list as an excuse to try something you wouldn't normally order.

Turoni's is a great neighborhood pizza spot that happens to have wine on the menu, not a wine destination that also serves pizza. Come for the food and the house-brewed beer; treat the $4.99 Lambrusco as a pleasant bonus, not the reason you're here.

Turoni's is a great pizza spot and a solid craft beer destination — the wine list is neither of those things. Order the Lambrusco if you're committed to the bit, then let the beer menu do the real work.

Turoni's is a great neighborhood pizza spot with a legitimate craft beer program — come for the pies and the pints, not the wine. If you need a glass of something, the $4.99 price tag makes it painless, but don't expect anything beyond the basics.

BJ's Evansville is a brewpub, full stop — the wine list is a courtesy offering for the table members who don't drink beer, not a destination in itself. If you're going, go on a Thursday, order the Meiomi or the Kim Crawford at half price, and let everyone else worry about the craft tap list.

Bar Louie Evansville is a fine place to grab a beer or a cocktail — the wine list is an afterthought dressed up in a laminated menu. Come on a Thursday, order the rosé, and call it a win.

LongHorn's wine list is the dining equivalent of a screensaver — it's technically there, it moves occasionally, but nobody's really watching it. Come for the steak, order the La Crema if you want wine, and keep your expectations where the decor suggests they should be.

Luci's isn't going to win any wine destination awards, but the by-the-glass program is unusually broad, markup is fair across most of the list, and there are a few genuinely good picks tucked in among the crowd-pleasers. If you're eating here, you can drink well — just know what to order and what to skip.

Giovanni's is a reliable neighborhood anchor — the room is good, the food has a loyal following, and the Italian reds give you enough to work with if you dig past the Sand Point labels. We'd send a friend here for dinner without hesitation; we'd just steer them straight toward the Barolo or Brunello and skip the California filler.

Johnny's wine list is exactly what it is: a well-curated collection of American crowd-pleasers with markups to match the steakhouse zip code. You won't be wowed, but you won't be stuck either — and 28 glasses by the pour means you have options.
