Fort Wayne's Speakeasy With a Serious Wine Stash

The list lands with more confidence than you'd expect from a Lima Road steakhouse tucked into a strip of Fort Wayne suburbs. It's not trying to be a wine bar, but it's not phoning it in either — there are real producers here, real regions, and a price ceiling that climbs past $250 if you're feeling ambitious.
Napa and Sonoma do the heavy lifting, which makes sense for a steakhouse crowd that wants big reds and recognizable labels. Stag's Leap Artemis, Faust The Pact, and Dominus Napanook give you a proper tour of Napa Cabernet at different price points. The list earns bonus points for reaching into Walla Walla with L'Ecole Merlot and dipping into Burgundy with Louis Latour Marsannay — that's not what most Fort Wayne steakhouses bother with. Bordeaux representation via Chateau Loudenne Medoc is a nice touch, though a single bottle from the Medoc isn't exactly a deep dive. Champagne shows up via Louis Roederer, which is the right call.
Ten to sixteen pours by the glass is a respectable range for this format — enough to navigate without being overwhelming. We'd expect the usual suspects (a California Chardonnay, a Cabernet, maybe a Sauvignon Blanc) to anchor the program, with Honig and Goldschmidt Singing Tree likely filling those roles. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here, so what you see is probably what you get, week after week.
L'Ecole Merlot (Walla Walla Valley) — $55–$65
Walla Walla Merlot at a steakhouse is a legitimate sleeper move. L'Ecole consistently punches above its price point, and next to the Napa Cabs on this list, it's almost certainly the better value per dollar. Order it before someone else does.
Louis Latour Marsannay (Burgundy)
Most tables here are going straight for Cabernet, which means the Marsannay just sits there waiting. Marsannay is Burgundy's northern village doing honest Pinot Noir without the grand cru price tag — it's quieter, more precise, and completely misunderstood by the crowd ordering Faust. Ask for it.
Faust The Pact Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa)
Faust The Pact is fine wine, but it's also one of the most aggressively marked-up labels in the restaurant game right now. You're paying a restaurant premium on top of an already-premium brand that's everywhere. The L'Ecole or even the Stag's Leap Artemis gives you a better story for less pain.
Stag's Leap Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa) + Hand-cut ribeye
Artemis is the textbook Napa Cab — structured tannins, dark fruit, just enough oak — and a ribeye's fat and char is exactly what those tannins want to grab onto. It's not a surprising pairing, but it's a correct one, and sometimes correct is what you want.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Hideout 125 is doing more with a wine list than most steakhouses in this zip code would bother attempting — Burgundy, Walla Walla, Champagne, actual producers people care about. The markups are real and there's no rotation or events to get excited about, but if you know where to look on this list, you'll drink well.
Downtown-adjacent / Near West · Fort Wayne · Italian market and deli
Antonuccio's isn't a restaurant wine program — it's something more interesting: a genuine Italian market where you can eat well and leave with better bottles than most Fort Wayne restaurants will ever pour you. Come for lunch, leave with a Chianti, zero regrets.

Eddie Merlot's Fort Wayne is a reliably well-run steakhouse wine program — proper storage, real glassware, a sommelier on the floor, and enough pours by the glass to satisfy a full table. The list won't challenge you, and the markups will sting, but if you want a classic California Cab with your prime beef and you want it done right, this place delivers.

BRU Burger Bar is genuinely great at what it does — burgers, fries, a cold beer. The wine list exists as an afterthought for guests who don't drink beer, and it should be treated accordingly. Order a craft draft, save the wine for somewhere that cares.

Nawa is a fine place to eat; the wine list won't embarrass anyone, but it won't excite them either. Grab the Amarone or the Broquel Malbec, ignore the celebrity bottles, and let the food do the heavy lifting.

Tahoe Joe's is exactly what it is: a dependable casual steakhouse with a wine list that reflects its priorities — comforting, familiar, and not trying to impress anyone. If you want something adventurous, you're in the wrong zip code, but if you just want a reliable Cab with your steak and no drama, this will get the job done.

Texas Roadhouse is a perfectly fine place to eat a steak and drink a beer or a frozen margarita — that is what it was built for. The wine list is an afterthought bolted onto a concept that does not need it, and you should treat it accordingly.
