Wingman Metrics
The list opens with a tidy parade of Italian sparklers and rosés before settling into a comfortable groove of crowd-friendly whites. Fifty-seven labels sounds like a real list, and it mostly is — but you sense pretty quickly that this menu was built to please rather than to challenge. That's not necessarily a knock; it just means you know what you're getting.
The Italian bona fides are real: Gavi di Gavi from Villa Sparina, Vermentino from Argiolas, Tramin Pinot Grigio from Alto Adige, and a solid Sancerre from Maison de Madeleine for the Francophiles at the table. What the list lacks is any serious red depth — we couldn't find Barolo, Brunello, or anything that would make a Nebbiolo fan's pulse quicken. The sparkler section is genuinely nice, with four Prosecco options at different price points plus Veuve Clicquot for the celebration crowd. Overall, whites and bubbles do the heavy lifting; reds feel like an afterthought.
Twenty-five by-the-glass options is a serious number for a suburban Italian spot, and the range covers bubbles through whites and into reds. Prices run $12–$23 per glass, which lands on the higher end for Naperville but isn't outrageous given the quality of some pours available. The selection skews heavily white and Italian-adjacent, which fits the menu but leaves red wine drinkers with fewer interesting choices.
Matanzas Creek Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc 2024 — $39
At the low end of the bottle price range, this Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc consistently punches above its weight — bright, food-friendly, and approachable without being boring. For a table that wants a crisp white without overthinking it, this is your move.
Argiolas Costamolino Vermentino 2025
Sardinian Vermentino rarely gets the attention it deserves on Italian-American wine lists, and most diners scroll right past it. Argiolas is one of the better producers on the island, and this bottle brings saline, citrus-driven energy that works beautifully with seafood or lighter pasta dishes. Don't let the unfamiliar name scare you off.
Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne NV
At $155, this is standard restaurant Champagne markup doing exactly what you'd expect — punishing you for name recognition. Veuve Yellow Label retails around $55–$60, so you're paying nearly 3x for the privilege of a safe, familiar label. The Case Bianche Prosecco Superiore at $49 is a smarter bottle of bubbles and won't wreck your dinner bill.
Villa Sparina Gavi Di Gavi 2024 + Pasta with clams or a light seafood linguine
Gavi di Gavi's crisp acidity and subtle almond finish is practically engineered for shellfish and delicate pasta. Villa Sparina is a benchmark Gavi producer, and this pairing is the kind of no-drama, right-answer combination that makes an Italian dinner feel like it's working on all cylinders.
The Bottom Line
Francesca's Passaggio is a dependable suburban Italian wine list — white-wine-heavy, Italian-accented, and priced on the steeper side, but with enough interesting bottles to reward a little menu exploration. Send a friend here if they want a pleasant, fuss-free dinner with a solid glass of something Italian; send a serious wine person elsewhere.
· Naperville · Modern American
Entourage earns its stripes as a genuinely thoughtful suburban wine list — fair pricing, more depth than the address suggests, and a by-the-glass program that actually tries. We'd send a friend here without hesitation, especially if they're willing to wander past the Chardonnay section.

Quiubo's wine list is short, safe, and priced reasonably enough that it won't ruin your night — but it won't add anything to it either. Stick to the Juan Gil or the Cava, enjoy your tacos, and don't come here expecting the wine to be part of the experience.

Cooper's Hawk is built around wine, which makes a six-bottle, one-price list feel like a missed opportunity of almost comedic proportions. Come for the concept, manage your expectations accordingly.

Downtown Naperville · Naperville · American pub / burgers
Jackson Avenue Pub is not a wine destination, but Wine Wednesdays at half-price make it a legitimately smart stop if you're already there for a burger and a game. Come for the beer, stay for the deal.

Hugo's Naperville is a reliable, well-run steakhouse wine program that will not let you down and will not excite you. Come for the prime beef and oysters, order the Jordan or the Duckhorn, and don't look too hard at the markup on the Pinot Grigio.

Fat Rosie's is a genuinely fun taco and tequila spot that has no business being reviewed for its wine — and that's kind of the point. If your table wants wine, order cocktails instead and save everyone the disappointment.

Taverna Rossa's wine list gets the job done for a casual dinner out, but the markups on familiar bottles make it hard to recommend going beyond a glass or two. Stick with the Barbera or the Guigal and save the splurge for the food.

Vincitorio's has put in real work on this list — 155 labels and 60 by-the-glass options is a serious commitment. It's not a destination wine program, but it's a genuinely solid one that earns your trust more often than it loses it.

Porto by Antonio delivers a credible Italian-forward wine list with genuine high points — Promis, Barbaresco, Brunello — and a by-the-glass program that actually gives people choices. Markups get aggressive at the top, and the Caymus pricing is frankly embarrassing, but if you stick to the Italian core and the smart mid-range picks, you'll drink well here.
