The wine list at Fired Up Pizzeria does exactly what it needs to do: it doesn't embarrass the pizza. You're not getting a leather-bound tome of Barolo and Burgundy — you're getting a laminated page of names you've seen at every grocery store checkout lane. That's fine. This is a lively downtown pizza joint, not Enoteca Pinchiorri.
The list leans heavily on reliable-but-uninspired labels: Woodbridge, Kim Crawford, Chloe, Alamos — the kind of portfolio a distributor rep could put together in twenty minutes. There's a nod toward Italian compatibility with the Folonari Chianti, Spinelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and the Sasyr Super Tuscan, which is the most interesting bottle on the list and actually makes sense next to a wood-fired oven. The Querceto Tuscany Red rounds out the Italian flank without doing anything flashy. What's missing is any real depth — no grower Champagne hiding in the corner, no obscure Sicilian, no natural wine to make the list feel like someone actually cared.
Roughly 12-14 pours by the glass at $7–$13, which is a solid count for a casual pizza spot. The spread covers the basics — a Prosecco (Ruffino), a rosé (Oyster Bay), whites from Washington and New Zealand, and enough reds to keep a table of four from fighting over the bottle. Rotation appears nonexistent; this list has the energy of something that hasn't changed since the Bush administration.
The Show Malbec — $11/glass
Retail is $13 a bottle, so at $11 a glass the markup is actually one of the more reasonable pours on the list. Full-bodied enough to hold up to charred crust and fatty toppings, and it drinks above its price point.
Sasyr Super Tuscan
Most people at a pizza place are going to reach for the Chianti or the Malbec and call it a day. The Sasyr — a Sangiovese-Syrah blend from Tuscany — is the most interesting pour on the list, and at $13/glass it's not much more than the other reds. It has enough structure and dark fruit to stand up to a sausage-heavy pizza without bullying it.
Folonari Chianti
A $8 retail bottle priced at $40 on the list is a 400% markup — the steepest on the menu. Folonari is a perfectly drinkable bulk Chianti, but you're paying serious restaurant-wine money for something that belongs in a weeknight pasta rotation at home. The Sasyr is right there and actually earns its price.
Sasyr Super Tuscan + Sausage & Mushroom pizza
The Sangiovese backbone in the Sasyr is built for tomato sauce and cured meat — it's basically in the wine's DNA. The Syrah component adds a peppery edge that plays well against the earthiness of roasted mushrooms coming out of a wood-fired oven.
The Bottom Line
Fired Up Pizzeria's wine list is a workhorse, not a showpiece — it gets the job done without embarrassing anyone, but it won't give you a story to tell. Order the Sasyr, eat great pizza, and save the wine nerd energy for somewhere else in Durango.

The Ore House Wine Cellar is doing more than the zip code requires, and the pricing is fair enough that you won't feel punished for ordering off the list. It's not a destination wine program, but for a special-occasion steakhouse in Durango, it earns a confident yes — order something European and let the mountain air do the rest.

Animas Rooftop Lounge is not a wine destination — it's a drinks-with-a-view spot that happens to have a functional wine list. The pricing is fair, the local San Juans options give it a small edge over a purely generic lineup, and the Crémant Rosé is a genuinely good pour. If you're coming for the wine program, adjust expectations; if you're coming for the rooftop, order accordingly.

Farm & Vine Bistro isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it doesn't need to be. The all-by-the-glass format keeps things democratic, markups are fair across the board, and a few genuinely well-chosen bottles — the Dr. Loosen, the Volver, the Belle Glos — give wine-curious diners something to actually think about. If you're in Durango and want a solid glass without overthinking it, this works.

Primi is a solid neighborhood dinner spot that leans into its Italian identity with enough wine-bar intent to make it worth considering for a midweek meal, especially if Tuesday's reported specials check out on arrival. We'd go in with realistic expectations: good pasta, a serviceable Italian-focused list, and a room that prioritizes comfort over credentials. For Durango, that's a reasonable trade.
