The concept hits you immediately: every single wine on the list is available by the glass. All 34 of them. That's either a very confident wine program or a very expensive cellar turnover problem — and at Domacin, it reads as the former. The range on that list is genuinely surprising for St. Paul.
This is not a list someone built by calling a Sysco rep. You've got Moccagatta Barbaresco and Tenuta Santa Maria Amarone anchoring the Italian reds, La Spinetta's Timorasso showing up for the white wine nerds, and Anthony Road Riesling from the Finger Lakes for the people who actually know what's going on in New York wine country. The sparkling section alone has five options — Prosecco, Cava, Crémant d'Alsace, Champagne, and a rotating rosé — which is more thought than most full-service restaurants put into their entire list. There are some crowd-pleaser entries (Justin Cab, San Pietro Pinot Grigio), but they don't dominate, and they serve as reasonable anchors rather than lazy filler. The gaps are mostly on the natural wine side and anything from Germany or the Southern Hemisphere, but for a 34-bottle program, this is curated with genuine intention.
Here's the thing: the by-the-glass program IS the list, which means you can order a $25 glass of Barbaresco or a $12 Cava without committing to a bottle — that's a genuinely useful format for exploration. Prices run $11–$26, which is honest for a wine bar in this market, and the spread across regions and styles means the glass program rewards curiosity rather than just defaulting to whatever's easy to move.
La Spinetta Montemarzino Timorasso 2022 — $16/glass
Timorasso is one of Italy's most interesting white grapes — structured, age-worthy, and still flying under the radar in the U.S. La Spinetta is a serious Piedmont producer. Getting this by the glass at $16 is genuinely good value and a chance to try something most wine bars wouldn't even stock.
Anthony Road Riesling Finger Lakes 2022
Finger Lakes Riesling punches well above its price point and Anthony Road is one of the region's most consistent producers. Most diners will scroll past it for something they recognize, which is their loss — this is the kind of wine that converts skeptics.
Justin Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2022
Justin Cab is fine, but at $20 a glass you're paying restaurant markup on a wine that's everywhere. With Moccagatta Barbaresco on the same list for just $5 more, this feels like the safe default order rather than the smart one.
Tenuta Santa Maria Amarone 2018 + Braised lamb or short rib (Mediterranean preparation)
Amarone is a big, structured wine built for rich, slow-cooked meat. The 2018 vintage is drinking well now, and against anything braised and fatty on the Mediterranean side of the menu, it's going to perform exactly as advertised.
The Bottom Line
Domacin is doing something genuinely unusual — a full by-the-glass list with real depth and fair prices — and it mostly lands. If you're in St. Paul and want to actually explore wine with dinner, this is the room to be in.

Cala isn't where you go to have your wine mind blown, but it's a competent, Mediterranean-focused list with enough range to drink well through dinner — and the Tignanello alone is reason enough to look past the resort pricing tax.
