You walk into a bakery expecting coffee and a croissant, and the wine list stops you cold. Nineteen labels, almost all local, almost all small producers — at a place where the eggs Benedict are the headliner. It's a genuinely pleasant surprise.
Costeaux keeps it tight and keeps it Sonoma: Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Anderson Valley — all the right appellations, none of the tourist-trap filler. The list leans on producers you'd expect to find at a tasting room, not a bakery: Balletto, La Follette, Zialena, Orsi Family. There's a soft spot for rosé and sparkling, which makes complete sense for a brunch-forward spot, and even a house sparkling in the Costeaux 100th Anniversary Brut NV. The gaps are real — no old world representation, no depth on the red side beyond a Pinot, a Zinfandel, and a Sangiovese — but for what this place is, the list punches well above its weight class.
Seventeen of nineteen labels available by the glass is a genuinely impressive ratio and means you can work your way through a Cara Rosé of Mourvèdre and a Quince Pinot Noir without committing to a bottle before your quiche arrives. Glass pours run $11–$16, which is honest money for Healdsburg. Rotation appears limited — this is not a list that changes with the seasons — but the baseline selection is solid enough that you won't feel stuck.
Balletto Brut Rosé 2019 — $25/bottle
Balletto is a respected Russian River Valley producer and their sparkling program is legit. At $25 a bottle, this is basically retail pricing — a genuine steal for a sit-down restaurant in wine country.
Orsi Family Sangiovese 2021, Dry Creek Valley
California Sangiovese from Dry Creek Valley is a niche you didn't know you wanted. Most people will walk right past it for the Pinot, but Orsi Family makes the kind of food-friendly, acid-driven red that was basically designed for a long brunch.
La Marca Prosecco NV, Italy
It's fine. It's also La Marca — a grocery store staple available everywhere for around $14 retail. In a list this committed to local producers, reaching for the one mass-market import feels lazy, and at $28 a bottle here, you're paying a premium for a wine that deserves none.
Cara Rosé of Mourvèdre 2023, Dry Creek Valley + French Onion Soup
The savory depth of Mourvèdre rosé can actually stand up to the rich, beefy broth and caramelized onions without getting steamrolled. Most rosés can't say that. This one can.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Costeaux is the rare bakery where ordering a glass of wine at 11am feels like the correct decision. The list is small, locally rooted, and priced like they actually want you to order it — which, in Healdsburg, is not a given.

Hazel Hill is legitimately one of the better resort wine programs in California wine country — deep list, proper staff, and a setting that earns the splurge. The markups are real and the vibe is unabashedly luxe, but if you're already in Healdsburg, this is worth the stop.

Valette Wines at The Matheson is a single-producer wine bar that actually justifies the concept — the sourcing is legit, the prices are fair, and the Healdsburg plaza setting makes it an easy yes for a pre-dinner glass or two. Don't come expecting range; come expecting quality.

Jordan Estate is a polished, premium experience that knows exactly what it is — and if you're a Cabernet believer, it absolutely delivers. Just don't expect an adventure outside the estate's four corners, and come prepared for the price tag.

Scout Field Bar is what happens when a luxury resort actually invests in its wine program instead of phoning it in — the list is deep, the producers are legit, and the setting makes everything taste better.
