Walking into Cork & Fork, the exposed brick and small-plates format immediately signal that someone here is taking wine seriously — or at least trying harder than anyone else in downtown Harrisburg. The list clocks in at 80-150 labels, which is ambitious for a mid-size Pennsylvania city better known for state-store wine culture than Italian imports. It's a breath of fresh air, even if it stops short of genuinely great.
The list swings between California heavyweights and European classics in a way that feels intentional rather than scattershot. You've got Stag's Leap 'Artemis' Cab anchoring the big-bottle California side, and Pecchenino's Le Coste di Monforte Barolo flying the old-world flag with credibility — that's not a producer you stumble into by accident. The Monte Zovo Valpolicella Ripasso rounds out a respectable Italian bench, and the White Clay Semillon/Chenin Blanc blend hints at some adventurous buying decisions. Gaps exist — more depth in Southern France and Spain would sharpen the story — but for Harrisburg, this list punches well above its zip code.
Twenty by-the-glass options is a genuinely strong number for a spot this size, and it gives casual drinkers real room to explore without committing to a bottle. The pour program covers enough ground — sparkling with Veuve Clicquot, approachable reds, and some whites with personality — that you can build a real tasting progression through dinner. We'd love to see more rotation and some riskier pours make it onto the glass list, but what's here works.
Valpolicella Ripasso - Monte Zovo — $
Monte Zovo makes honest, food-friendly Ripasso at a price point that doesn't embarrass you at the table. It drinks richer than its cost suggests, with the dried-cherry depth to stand up to the heavier small plates. In a list where the Stag's Leap is going to pull eyeballs, this is the smart order.
Semillon/Chenin Blanc Blend - White Clay
Most people at a wine bar skip straight to familiar Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio and never look back. White Clay's Semillon/Chenin Blanc blend is the kind of pick that rewards curiosity — textured, a little nervy, and genuinely interesting in a way that crowd-pleasing whites rarely are. Order it and feel quietly smug about it.
Champagne - Veuve Clicquot Brut
Veuve is ubiquitous for a reason, but it's also one of the most marked-up bottles in any restaurant's portfolio. You're paying heavily for the yellow label and the name recognition, not for anything you can't find for dramatically less at retail. If you want bubbles, see if there's a Prosecco pour from Nino Ardevi on the glass list instead.
Barolo DOCG - Pecchenino Le Coste di Monforte + Garganelli Bolognese
Barolo and slow-cooked meat ragu is one of the least complicated calls in food and wine — the wine's firm tannins and earthy backbone cut right through the richness of the Bolognese and make both taste better. Pecchenino's Le Coste di Monforte is a serious bottle, and the Garganelli gives it something worthy to work with.

Cork & Fork is doing something genuinely worthwhile in a city where the wine bar concept hasn't exactly taken hold — the list is real, the by-the-glass program is strong, and there are bottles here worth seeking out. Send a friend here if they want something better than a chain restaurant wine list; just temper expectations on staff deep-cuts and don't blow your budget on the Veuve.
