Eight wines. That's the list. At a resort restaurant in Fairbanks — a city where your dinner options are already limited by geography — you'd hope the kitchen's scenic riverfront setting might inspire a little more ambition on the wine side. It does not.
The list reads like someone grabbed whatever was available at the nearest distributor and called it a day. You've got two Michael David Freakshow bottles (Chardonnay and Cabernet), two Misfits and Mavens whites (Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio), a Misfits and Mavens Pinot Noir, a Clean Slate Riesling, a Coppola Diamond Collection Prosecco, and a Bear Creek Strawberry Rhubarb Wine that is clearly there to charm tourists rather than serve wine drinkers. There is no old world representation, no regional curiosity, no depth beyond the obvious crowd-pleaser lane. The Freakshow branding says it all — this list is dressed up but not actually trying.

If you're staying at River's Edge Resort and want wine with dinner, order the Clean Slate Riesling and move on. But don't come here for the list.

Jazz Bistro On 4th is a genuinely charming spot that gets almost everything right except the wine list, which reads like it was assembled in ten minutes from a distributor's bargain shelf. Come for the music, the food, and maybe a cocktail — and hope they eventually hire someone to build a wine program worthy of the room.
